In 1972, a rapper was born not knowing he was supposed to be involved with the Gospel. The place was Long Island, New York and when his mother had her ultrasound, it was reported that the doctor heard tight lyrics going along with the heartbeat at the same time. As a child he developed his unique ear for music by experimenting with beats using pots, pans, and cardboard boxes. After his parents divorce, Minista -V- became rebellious and was lured to the sights and sounds of the streets. While experiencing the rise of Hip-Hop through his residence in both Brooklyn, and Long Island, his first song was composed in 1988. Between this time and 1994, -V- was a gifted lyricist coming straight out of the New York tradition of hardcore Hip-Hop. However, while doing secular rap, deep down inside he still felt an empty feeling that went away in 1995 when he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. After this powerful transformation which changed his life forever, his music leaned towards less negative themes. After studying the Word of God, Minista -V- completely abandoned secular music altogether. The result now is his unique, exciting street style of Gospel Hip-Hop with versatile ranges, from socially conscious, soul-convicting hardcore rhymes over melodic grooves, to up-tempo “spirit-stirring” cuts. After writing his first Gospel song entitled “Devil Fightin’ Spirit” in 1996, he has received exposure at church events, youth explosions, prisons, and community programs through his membership with the Underground Gospel Ministries Inc. His first CD entitled “The Flesh Killah” was released in 2000. Following the buzz of his first CD and the many souls that were affected by it, he dropped another one later on that was more powerful and anointed than the first one. He writes his own material, arranges, and produces his own tracks for both CD’s. With the latest CD entitled “Survival” many people throughout the nation have been blessed and the presence of God has been ushered in by songs such as “No Fears, No Tears” and “Holy Ghost Groovin”. Through his affiliation with the Underground Gospel Ministries, Minista -V- had the opportunity to open shows for artist such as Trinity 5-7, Mary Mary, Tonex, Tye Tribbett, Charles Wolfork, Jessica Care Moore, Reverend Run, The Cross Movement, Dawkins & Dawkins, Karen Clarke Sheard, Kiki Sheard, and Papa San. He has also opened up for Gospel comedian “Bone” and TV/Movie-Christian personalities Anthony Griffith and Sheri Shepherd. Through the Underground, Minista -V- was given many opportunities to use his God given gifts, and talents to make an impact in the Kingdom. This also involved feeding the homeless, and giving back to the community by doing outreach ministry in spreading the gospel to the streets. A play called “Life” was written based on his song “The Ghetto Version”. This play is a Hip-Hop musical drama that displays the life of Christ in today’s urban world. Finally, Minista -V- has expanded his commitment to the cause by his role as Youth Leader at Agape International Ministries in Richmond, VA. Established in 2006,”Kill The Flesh Ministries” was birthed out of Minister Gil Robinson and the Underground. Minista -V-'s ministry is for the purpose of convincing and encouraging people to live a better life according to the Word of God. By killing the lust of the flesh which is denying evil desires by the power of the Holy Spirit, -V- is a walking example to the young people, showing them how to live a bold and victorious life as a single man or woman of God and abstaining from sexual and evil activities just as he does himself. Minista -V-'s powerful anointed ministry will change the lives of all those who are drawn to the message of the Cross of Jesus Christ. $13.15 After releasing 5 cds with ATOMSPLIT, singer songwriter Douglas James Davenport (aka DSazster) releases an amazing "solo" CD of 16 new songs. The music spans from relationships, to spirituality, to humorous observations (like "Old Rockers, New Records") and each song features multi-layered acoustic guitar, vocal and bass instrumentation.Songs on the record...01 "You Deep Somehow"It's Springtime. The birds, the bees, the pollen filled trees. Here's a nice and sweet romantic song. It's a chord progression part I've been working on for awhile. But I desparately needed inspiration to finish the lyrics. I found some...02 "She Can't Help"Are you the girl that second guesses everything? Even when things are coming along nicely there's always that lingeringdoubt that the past will repeat itself. Then girl, this is your song.03 "Thick to Thin"The song speaks to the dilution of a relationship through time. Typically early on you might call one "thick". But then as time takes it's toll. And reality takes it toll. And the Law of Rhythm takes it toll. Etc, etc, etc. You become "thin". You all know what I'm talking about. Think about how many "dead friends" you have out there. Such is the way I suppose.04 "Next to This"This is a ballad called "Next to This".Inspired by true abstract life.Without drama we would have no ...
