"Rev couples hard rock riffs with rhythmic beats and soulful lyrical content. There a band you need to feel. Feel in the same way you fuck. Stand real close, keep your eyes locked and don’t lie about the outcome."Hailing from San Diego, CA, this fourpiece brings a level of intensity that is unmatched in the independent arena. Fans debate their classification, but most agree that Rev rides the line between hard rock and metal. Having recorded their debut EP "For Sale" with veteran producer Steve Russell (P.O.D., As I Lay Dying, Finch), this band shows that there's hope for the future of heavy music. | | Rosanne Cash List CD (2009)
For Sale
$11.99 After the dark and chilling themes of 2006's BLACK CADILLAC, which saw Rosanne Cash dealing with the deaths of her mother, Vivian Liberto, her father, Johnny Cash, and her stepmother, June Carter Cash -- all of whom passed within a two-year span -- one might assume that her next project would move into an even deeper level of bleakness, but with THE LIST, it's immediately clear that she has instead found a more measured place to stand. It's a lovely and redemptive outing that looks back to go forward. When Cash turned 18, her father, alarmed that his daughter only knew the songs that were getting played on the radio, gave her a list of what he considered 100 essential American songs; Cash kept that list, and now she's drawn on it for this wonderfully nuanced outing that brims with a kind ...

$6.75 A surprise best-seller when it was first released, this mostly improvised pairing of singer/keyboardist/producer Al Kooper with two major guitar heroes of the day sounds fascinating all these years later precisely because of the distance of time--nobody makes records like this any more. The material runs the gamut from folk pop (covers of Donovan and Dylan), to blues ("Albert's Shuffle," "You Don't Love Me"), to heady jams ("His Holy Modal Majesty"), to big-band jazz ("Harvey's Tune").
All the tunes make effective templates for the kind off-the-cuff music-making that in less capable hands ...

| | Faternal Ride CD (2005)

$11.39 FATERNAL It would be futile to surmise all the reasons you should enjoy Faternal’s music. You have undoubtedly heard all the pitches. The simple truth is: You must hear and see the group in order to appreciate their talent and their message. Hip Hop is a way of life to those truly committed, and to fill up the next two pages with comparisons and lists of influences would only detract from our goal. We could pontificate about old school Hip Hop, and the values inherent in the music. Groups like Melle Mel and the Furious Five, Run DMC, Beastie Boys, and DJs like Grandmaster Flash used to take their beats and poetry and use them as tools of expression. The message: Inner city youths were not all gangsters, they were human beings. While the trials and tribulations of life in the streets were tough, they sought other ways to deal with the hazards of their environment. Turntablism, drum machines, and freestyle lyrical delivery were the chosen weapons. Through these tools they found a way to sing about life, about relationships, racism, education (or lack thereof) and everything that encompasses being young in a harsh world. However, the twist was positive. There was hardly a first hand account of murder or drug dealing. Instead they chose to take their observations and make it kick, make it danceable. Enter the new school embracing the old: Faternal.Faternal is the hip hop trio of Shawn and Jason Rotramel (twin brothers, and MC’s) and their DJ KC. Armed with little ...

| | Red Letter Wishbone CD (2006)
For Sale
$13.95 Red Letter is the musical union and songwriting team of Jessica Tomich and Frank Sorci. A Sonoma County, California native, Jessica grew up immersed in music. Not only was her mother a singer/songwriter, but her grandparents were also accomplished musicians. Indeed, her grandfather was the notorious and quite eccentric Don Ricardo, known for his successful Big Band run with the famed Don Ricardo NBC Orchestra. Jessica developed a passion for songwriting in her early teens and began taking multi-weekly vocal and piano lessons. At fourteen, she collaborated with her step-dad on the writing of a few songs and earned herself a development deal with Columbia Records. She has been writing, recording and performing steadily from the start. Frank is a native of San Jose, California and grew up on an apricot ranch. His family, The Sorci's, are renowned for farming the area for over a hundred years. Their legacy is remembered in the Santa Clara Valley, with street signs bearing the Sorci name where apricot trees once flourished. At ten years old, Frank picked up his first guitar and as a teenager he began writing and performing with his own band. He has since toured the world as a lead singer and guitarist and has contributed his talents to numerous studio ...

The project features eleven new songs, an alt-Americana sound that she and Cam KIng produced. It features top notch players, including Martin Muse, Cam King, Andrew Hardin , Freddy Krc and Ross Holmes. She has also put together her own band, called Rocket Girl. The four-piece group has a driving energy that is just plain fun, and has been cleared for take off.Annie decided at the age of 9 that she wanted to be a singer, so it was a good thing that she woke up one morning with a "voice the could stop traffic" at age 16. She first picked up flute at age 11, and at age 13 was recognized by the Texas Flute Club as an "outstanding young player". She went on to study with Claire Johnson at Southern Methodist University. She hit the Dallas clubs in the 1980's and followed various blues artists including ZuZu Bolin, and learned to emulate blues licks on her flute. She first picked up guitar while in her 20s in order to write and ...
