The simple truth is: You must hear and see the group in order to appreciate their talent and their message. Hip Hop is a way of life to those truly committed, and to fill up the next two pages with comparisons and lists of influences would only detract from our goal. We could pontificate about old school Hip Hop, and the values inherent in the music. Groups like Melle Mel and the Furious Five, Run DMC, Beastie Boys, and DJs like Grandmaster Flash used to take their beats and poetry and use them as tools of expression. The message: Inner city youths were not all gangsters, they were human beings. While the trials and tribulations of life in the streets were tough, they sought other ways to deal with the hazards of their environment. Turntablism, drum machines, and freestyle lyrical delivery were the chosen weapons. Red Letter is the musical union and songwriting team of Jessica Tomich and Frank Sorci. A Sonoma County, California native, Jessica grew up immersed in music. Not only was her mother a singer/songwriter, but her grandparents were also accomplished musicians. Indeed, her grandfather was the notorious and quite eccentric Don Ricardo, known for his successful Big Band run with the famed Don Ricardo NBC Orchestra. Jessica developed a passion for songwriting in her early teens and began taking multi-weekly vocal and piano lessons. At fourteen, she collaborated with her step-dad on the writing of a few songs and earned herself a development deal with Columbia Records. She has been writing, recording and performing steadily from the start. Frank is a native of San Jose, California and grew up on an apricot ranch.
