| | Bob Delevante Columbus And The Colossal Mistake CD Bob Delevante Discography of CDs
Bob Delevante, formerly 1/2 of the brother duo The Delevantes, once again has created a fresh, witty and energetic collection of smart country-rock, Columbus and the Colossal Mistake on Relay Records. The multi-talented and award-winning songwriter, guitarist, photographer, graphic designer and producer continues to create snapshots of the simple things in life and meditations on the unforeseen consequences of exploration. The new self-produced CD demonstrates Delevante's growth as an artist and includes friends and special guests from both his native New Jersey and his current home in Nashville: Garry Tallent (E Street Band), Emmylou Harris, Buddy Miller, Southside Johnny and Kenny Vaughn. Though the new work's sound is firmly planted in his past work, Columbus, has a bite and an eye to the future. As well as being an award winning songwriter and musician, he is an accomplished photographer who's work has been featured in B&W magazine, Photographer's Forum, national ad campaigns and on the cover of magazines. As a graphic designer he recently won awards for a cd packages he created for artist like Julie Lee and Rod Picott. He has designed book covers for Farm Aid, album covers for Ricky Skaggs, and the occasional birth announcement of his children. Furthermore, as a producer Delevante has recorded albums for countless bands in and around Nashville (The Coalmen, Greg Trooper, Duane Jarvis). In 2002, he formed Relay Station, a creative company that facilitates all of these various mediums from a studio behind his house. Few artists are able to merge their mediums in such a lyrical and cohesive manner which allows the listener/viewer the ability to see their hands, eyes and heart. Columbus And The Colossal Mistake CD music
$12.19 It's no secret that Sting is a serious man, so it's only logical that his holiday album -- his first new music since the Police reunion, not that it really matters -- is a serious endeavor, thank you. No niceties for him, no comforts of carols; he favors formal over familiar, writing madrigals, not ditties. It is music made by someone who lives in a castle, which isn't necessarily such a bad thing: the austerity is genuine, not affected, and the cerebral nature of the album is fascinating, albeit mildly so, as this is as sleepy as it is thoughtful. ...

| | Sharif Kiss The Moon CD (2001)
Columbus And The Colossal Mistake CD music
$9.59 Sharif's popularity as an artist is rooted in his innovative sound, distinctive airy voice, and electrifying stage presence. His music is smart poetry, an appealingly inventive blend of edgy emo sounds with likable pop rhythms. His voice is frequently likened to that of the late Elliott Smith, and his songs, while fresh and original, contain musical threads of bands like The Lemonheads, Bright Eyes, The Beatles, and Ryan Adams. With high onstage energy and extraordinary sex appeal, Sharif is one of today's most engaging performers. As one reviewer wrote, "He is a talented, musically gifted, ingenious songwriter with a distinct charm, wit, and sex appeal to rival any performer in pop music today."Sharif began his career performing at venues in Charlottesville, VA, where he also earned a BA in Marketing from the esteemed Commerce School at the University ...

Columbus And The Colossal Mistake CD music
$13.25 Released by Smithsonian Folkways in collaboration with the Museum of American Finance in New York, If You Ain't Got the Do-Re-Mi is a fascinating collection of folk and blues songs about money and its powerful, dangerous allure drawn from the vast Smithsonian Folkways catalog. Full of vernacular tunes chronicling fortunes made, lost or not sought at all, these selections, although many of them date from the Great Depression, have a timeless applicability given that cries of hope and frustration and grand wishes for financial solvency will undoubtedly never cease to be contemporary concerns. Among the gems here are a pair of Woody Guthrie songs, "Do-Re-Mi" from his Dust Bowl cycle, and his classic Oklahoma-outlaw-turned-Robin Hood ballad "Pretty Boy Floyd," Josh White's haunting "One Meat Ball" from 1944, Pete Seeger's stark, banjo-led lesson in international economics titled "Business," and Derek Lamb's 1962 version of "The Money Rolls In," an ode to counterfeiting set to the melody of the old British music hall standard "My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean." Autoharpist Kilby Snow's sparkling instrumental take on "Greenback Dollar," which is structurally based on "East Virginia Blues" and not on the Hoyt Axton song called "Greenback Dollar" from the '60s folk revival, is a sonic delight. Then there's "Ida Mae," done here in a version by Joe Glazer. Ida Mae was Ida Mae Fuller of Vermont, who in 1940 was the first person to ever receive a Social Security check (the Social Security Act had been passed in 1935 -- her first check totalled $22.54). Born in 1874, Ida Mae was over a hundred years old when she died in 1975, having drawn checks from the government for some 35 years amounting to ...
