| | Earl T Narrow Road CD Earl T Discography of CDs
Influenced by musical artist such as Jack Johnson, Duncan Sheik, Josh Kelly, and the everpopular Dashboard Confessional. A quick listen to Earl T's music reflects qualities of these artists. His music could be considered acoustic pop rock, and each song on the C.D. tells a story. Many are aboutrelationships, or things that he has experienced in life. A review of his C.D. in the April 6, 2006 issue of the MATC College News Paper said, 'All She Wants, the sixth track, is about a woman who wants love from a man who genuinely cares about her, not her looks. ' 'The song is slightly humorous, but has a true feeling to it. Any girl that is sick of trying to fish a decent guy out of the man sea will be able to smile and bob her head to this song.' | | Ron Kaplan Jazz Ambassadors CD (2004)
Narrow Road album
$11.49 Although Ron Kaplan has a nice warm voice, there are a few problems with this CD. The playing time is pretty brief, all of the nine warhorses have been recorded hundreds of times before (though Kaplan does contribute new lyrics to Oliver Nelson's "Stolen Moments"), and the singer's eccentric readings of the melodies (which include many changed notes) do not improve the themes. On "Body and Soul," one is not sure if he does not know the real melody or feels that his choice of notes improves it; the same can be said of "Stella By Starlight" and "'Round Midnight." Since Kaplan sticks to the words and merely sings a chorus apiece at the beginning and end of each song, his improvising sounds accidental. Also, considering its lyrics, "September Song" should be much more touching. The backup trio is fine (pianist Eddie Mendenhall takes some good solos), if not very distinctive. Overall, everyone involved is capable of doing much better. ~ Scott Yanow
The Jazz Ambassadors have been described as a mix of Seasoned Veterans and Young Lions. What is for sure on this recording is that they are a gathering of dynamic musicians who offer a tonic of timeless jazz vocal classics.Ron Kaplan has put together a tight piano trio with Eddie Mendenhall on piano, Dan Robbins on bass and Steve Robertson on drums to perform some of the most revered songs from the exotic treasure chest of the "Great American Songbook". These songs need no introduction to the listener and provide a montage of wonderful arrangements, improvisation and dazzling musicianship. Ron is a connoisseur of this music and has studied the history of its birth, rise and interpretation for four decades. This wealth of experience and immersion in the genre provides him with the tools he needs to deliver the warmth and dexterity he offers on the Jazz Ambassadors. Like the opening It Don't Mean A Thing, a swinger from the outset with the rhythm section and vocalist employing a certain amount of artistic freedom with a walking bass predominant throughout. On this cut Ron has the warm and mature delivery of a later day Mel Torme. The Bossa Nova version of Body And Soul is the album's highlight for me, a wonderful listening experience of ...
| | Sweetjuice CD (2003)
Narrow Road CD music
$15.19 Take a swig of SweetJuice and toast a rockin' revisionBy Kyle O'BrienTHE OREGONIANAs a duo, Adam & Kris are engaging performers, belting out their often social and politically themed folk songs with energy and soul. With their band, SweetJuice, Adam East and Kristin Deelane prove they can't be pigeonholed as mere bang-the-drum-circle-slowly folkies. After 10 years as an acoustic duo, Adam & Kris have added bass and drums, plus a few amps and effects, to beef up their sound. Drummer Matt Kramer, formerly with Peasant Syndrome and the Afterglow Stars, holds down the rhythm along with bassist Paul Summers Jr. The resulting sound is a diverse one that can just plain rock. SweetJuice's self-titled debut album, recorded live back in May at Northwest Portland's The Green Room, is a commendable sampling of its sound. The songs range from simple roots rock tunes and tender ballads to reggae-tinged groovers and all-out angry rockers. Adam and Kris are the two songwriters of the group. Their individual efforts are easy to separate, considering they sing their own. Deelane's contributions cut deeply, rock hard at times and take a first person stance on everything from self-loathing to self-affirmation, love and loss. Her voice can be tender and soft, as on the slow grooving ballad, "The Apple." But it's strongest when she's belting with an attitude, as on the rockin' "I Hate Myself," where she growls and seethes, "He saw me, he saw I was ugly, he lied and said he loved me, then he ran back to pretty."East's songs ...

Boone started playing the piano at the age of 9, and started singing around the age of 14. Until my Pastor at the time told me that this is a gift. Then when I moved to Dallas, I found out that this is a ministry."During this time of transition, Boone's knowledge about God and the ministry God has placed on his life is evident in the ears of the listeners. Also he is now a current member of the Full Gospel Holy Temple Headquarter Church of Dallas, TX. D'Marcus ...
