Hello to all. I wrote Heart of Sky/Heart of Earth after a trip to Lake Atitlan in Guatemala. Influenced by the beauty of the land, which included majestic Lake Atitlan and the live volcanoes surrounding it, and totally impressed by the creativity of the indigenous peoples who live there, I began to compose Heart of Sky/heart of Earth. This instrumental music describes the creation of our Mother Earth from a Mayan perspective. The sacred essence of our natural world is "front and center". You will hear the ocean of the primordal sea, and thunder which cracks open the heart of Sky. You will experience tibetan bowl, bird song and percussion instruments which beat the dance of life. Since it has been released, Heart of Sky/Heart of Earth has journeyed back to Lake Atitlan where it has been played inside a live volcano.I greet you as a composer, recording artist, teacher, and performer. My music has found an audience throughout the United States and Canada, and, thanks to the Internet and distributors such as CDBaby, is being sold in many other countries of the world. Who am I? From an early age I loved the outdoors. I was lucky enough to live out in the country where I could have great adventures exploring fields, woods, and streams near my home. When I was introduced to the piano, music became my other love. I played on the piano every day for hours as a child, and absorbed any classical music that my teachers could find for me to play, especially if the music had lots of passion and movement. Eventually music became my profession. My own original music has been created because of my spiritual connection with nature, and my music education which gave me the tools I needed to play outside of myself the music that I heard inside of myself. However, it has been especially influenced by my travels into the Mayan lands of Central America and Mexico. As I walk through the rain forest of Guatemala, or the mountains of Honduras, or the plains of Mexico visiting sacred Mayan sites, my own spiritual life deepens. I compose music that captures the sacred feel for me of these lands and people, and of our Mother Earth. The Mayan Dream album was born in Mexico in 1987. The Beloved album, The Journey of Joy album, and Heart of Sky/Heart of Earth album have since been created from my continued journeys throughout the lands of the Maya. What does my music sound like? You may hear a resemblance to Beethoven's pastoral music, or maybe a style like Kitaro without the sweeping violins, or possibly a close relationship with some of the composers who use electronic sound to create "ohm" and the feeling of centeredness. Percussion instruments from various parts of the world are an important part of the story that my music tells. I also love to use sampled bird song, thunder, ocean waves…..all of these sounds that bring nature into my music. However, it is uniquely "Beverly" music with my own musical imprint. I am grateful that I can send my music along to you via CDBaby. May it be a source and inspiration to you of joy, inner peace, and passion for life purpose. | | Linda Ronstadt Mad Love CD (1980)
Heart Of Sky/Heart Of Earth songs
$7.09 Since the 1960s, Linda Ronstadt has gone down many different musical paths in her career, but with MAD LOVE it's quite clear she was in a rockin' state of mind. Kicking off with the title track (written by new wave band the Cretones, who back here on this album), Linda shows that rock can also mean pop, as this is as catchy as they come. "Party Girl" is the first of three Elvis Costello covers, and this version should have made Elvis proud. The Blondie-ish hit "How Do I Make You" features Nicolette ...
| | Michael Hedges Beyond Boundaries: Guitar Solos CD (2001) Bonus Track
Heart Of Sky/Heart Of Earth album
$34.89 There were few boundaries for the late Michael Hedges, who did everything he could to dissolve the limitations of the acoustic guitar and give voice to the symphonies in his head. Tapping with his left hand, slapping with his right, thwacking the guitar body percussively, he didn't allow a single inch of his instrument to go unplayed.
In his later work he experimented with vocals, flute, and keyboards, but BEYOND BOUNDARIES compiles his most moving solo guitar compositions. Here he employs unusual tunings, subtle harmonics, and an eclectic writing style that takes him far beyond the confines of the "new age" tag. He explores finger-picked folk ("Rickover's Dream"), frolicsome baroque ("Eleven Small Roaches"), harp guitar ("The Double Planet"), slow jazz ("Dream Beach"), space-funk ("The Funky Avocado"), even a Frank Zappa cover. As impressive as his compositional skills and technique were, his approach to songs was always playful and humble. For the uninitiated, this is a handy introduction to the music of a virtuoso and blithe spirit.
