To Feel Alive Around Here
$17.09 SPOTLIGHT ON SYLVIA(This CD, "De Mi Alma Intima", has recently introduced Sylvia to radio and TV audiences. Her singing style and the beautiful music create an addictive mood that you will experience each time you hear the CD.) Mention "Arthur Avenue" to most people in New York City and you'll see a smile and a widening of the eyes. "That's the Little Italy of the Bronx, isn't it?" This was the neighborhood that was home to Sylvia Bello for her first eight years. Sylvia's father, Silvio, had emigrated to the United States from Ponza, a small island near Ischia and Capri, off the coast of Naples. When he arrived in America, he was eager to establish himself as an engineer in his own business. He had a wonderful tenor voice and enjoyed singing along with the recordings of the great Italian artists. Sylvia's mother, Teresa, although born here, continued the traditions of her parents who also came from Ponza. Mrs. Bello always enjoyed listening to her husband and little Sylvia join voices, singing such popular Italian songs as Vivere! and Reginella Campagnola. .By the age of five it was apparent that Sylvia possessed an unusually beautiful voice and that her future would be in music. When the family moved to northern New Jersey, Sylvia was enrolled in the Academy of the Holy Angels. Here too, the nuns recognized her musical gift. She was encouraged to sing for numerous school functions and was well known for her solo performances. The nuns, who were members of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, arranged an audition for Sylvia at the famed Julliard School in New York. They felt that with proper training, her future would hold an operatic career. Sylvia was in the seventh grade at that time. There was no question about it. Here was a child with an extraordinary gift and great potential.Unfortunately, ...

To Feel Alive Around Here
$13.89 CHRISTOPHER WILSON BIO "Read On"--the second release from American singer/songwriter Christopher Wilson--is a multifaceted indie pop/rock excursion from start to finish. Replete with timeless lyrics, melodic guitar hooks and Wilson’s trademark emotive vocals, each track stands unique in melody and sonic textures, further demonstrating Wilson’s songwriting prowess: "Out There Eddy" trumpets the plight of runaways; "If Only" touches upon the universal feelings of regret and pining for true love; "Opening the Lotus" exalts love metaphorically as the light sustaining all life on earth; "Facelift" unveils the darkness of deception; "No Such Thing" evokes the disillusionment and rage of the struggling working class--hard rock anthem style. "Read On" is about real people in an unreal world of artifice and selfishness.“The songs I chose to record for 'Read On' were based solely on their lack of uniformity with regard to their overall sound, lyrical theme and vibe” says Wilson, “The juxtaposition of the songs on the CD is totally intentional, ...
