Following in the footsteps of the previous collection, A Windham Hill Christmas, Vol. 2 gathers more relaxing, sophisticated holiday music as performed by Windham Hill's roster of artists. The collection finds the right balance between traditional and contemporary, both in terms of its sound and its choice of songs. Will Ackerman and David Cullen's "I Wonder as I Wander" sounds gently modern, while Paul McCandless' "In Dulci Jubilo" has a slightly more traditional bent. Tracy Silverman and Thea Suits' strings and flute interpretation of "Away in a Manger" mixes both approaches and is breathtaking in its lovely simplicity. Most of the performances here, including Barbara Higbie's "Patapan," suggest pristine snowscapes or, in the case of Jim Brickman's "The First Noel," the warmth of a hearth, but Steve Erquiaga's "Joy to the World" may be the first rendition of the carol that sounds downright sunny. Tracks by Richard Schönherz, Alex de Grassi, and Tim Story and George Winston's "Silver Bells" complete the album, which like A Windham Hill Christmas, makes a lovely, subtle soundtrack to the holidays. ...

My Jamaica was written by Jimmy Roland in the late 90's after making an exit from a bad relationship. He was motivated to write these lyrics because of issues that went on in the relationship. After coming up with the words (feelings from his heart) to the song, he began humming a tune. It was a tune that could very well have been the chorus to the song but Jimmy thought that the tune was too simple. He got on the piano and began playing around with a melody that he thought had a very catchy "hook". Jimmy then remembered that a lot of hit songs have hooks that are very simple but memorable and very catchy. He found himself humming "My Oh My Jamaica" every day. He decided to go with that "hook". He began to feel very comfortable about the song and asked the independent record label that he was signed to at the time if they would approve including it on his upcoming Cd release "Songs from...Under The Moonlight". At first they had reservations about including the song as they thought it was too simple as well but, Jimmy fought for it. It was indeed included and became one of the most popular tracks on the Cd. Many fans have told Jimmy that they could relate to the song's lyrics as they also have had a "Jamaica" (a fictitious name Jimmy used to protect the guilty)in their lives.Jimmy has a musician/producer/DJ friend in Toulon, France known as DJ Felly. Felly loved Jimmy's vocals and the hook to the song. He told Jimmy that he would like to do a dance remix of the song. Jimmy agreed that would be a great idea and gave the go-ahead. ...
