| | Velvet Fog Scenes From A Rooftop CD Velvet Fog Discography of CDs
(1 Customer Review)
"The Velvet Fog is a Sydney based Acoustic Pop/Rock outfit with plenty of roots and soul. Their sound is classic and timeless both familiar yet unique creating an evocative and emotional impact. The songs reflect strong musicianship with finely tuned arrangements, colourful melodies and stylish harmonies, often reminiscent of the late 60's/early 70's classic song writing era. They have been likened to Crowded house, Travis and Coldplay. The Velvet Fog have been playing live since 2002, and 'Scenes From A Rooftop' is their debut album. Well worth a listen." | | Katatonia Night Is The New Day CD (2009)
Scenes From A Rooftop CD music
$14.38 The latest album from Swedish doom rockers Katatonia, their first studio effort since 2006, is as moody and beautiful as their other latter-day work. The group's career can be marked in two stages based on the condition of singer Jonas Renske's vocal cords -- basically, after the band's first two albums, he developed health problems that prevented him from performing harsh death growls, and ever since the band has moved in an increasingly melodic direction, even covering ...

Scenes From A Rooftop album
$15.85 The superlative repackaging and remastering undertaken by Ryko has put the original three-part, two-record set of this magnificent nonsense tale together for the first time. This is back to the madness of Freak Out, with more pop and doo-wop bursting through all the complicated stuff, letting you know that Zappa could write a hit single, if he could be bothered to do so. Joe's Garage is a hoot and harmlessly pornographic. The sleeve-note states that it is "a stupid ...

| | Wes Montgomery Dangerous CD (1999)
Scenes From A Rooftop music CDs
$13.95 DANGEROUS is a collection of tracks recorded in the early 1960s.
Digitally remastered by Joe Tarantino (1999, Fantasy Studios, Berkeley, California).
This fill-in-the-gaps compilation of early-'60s sessions includes six tracks (two of them alternate takes) that were previously only available on the box set The Complete Riverside Recordings, and three previously unissued alternate takes from the performance that yielded the 1961 live album The Montgomery Brothers in Canada. Even with just nine tracks, Montgomery is heard in a variety of contexts: the ballad "If I Should Lose You" performed by the Montgomery Brothers (an alternate take), the 1962 live version of "S.O.S." with Johnny Griffin and Miles Davis' 1959-62 rhythm section (another alternate take), four 1963 songs with organist Melvin Rhyne, and the three unreleased 1961 Montgomery Brothers cuts (two of which are different versions of "Stella By Starlight") with vibraphonist Buddy Montgomery. The material is characteristic early-'60s Montgomery: quality, straight-ahead jazz that you wouldn't place among his most essential efforts, but that wouldn't displease fans or dishonor him either. There's plenty of single-note and parallel octave playing throughout, and it might be that the four tracks with Rhyne, particularly "Lolita" and "Blues Riff," are ...
| | Heltah Skeltah Nocturnal CD (1996)
Scenes From A Rooftop songs
$11.69 Principally recorded at Dolla Cab Lab, Brooklyn, New York; Chung King Studios, Unique Studios and D&D Studios, New York, New York.
Samples include "The Look Of Love" (as performed by Jonny Pate & Orchestra), "Danube" (as performed by Lalo Schifrin), "Blame It On My Youth" and "I Cover The Water Front (I See The Horizon)" (as performed by Gloria Lynne).
Heltah Skeltah is the third act to emerge from under the wings of Brooklyn's Boot Camp Clique, following Black Moon and Smif-N-Wessun. The two rappers in Heltah Skeltah sport a similar underground style to their mentors in Black Moon, with basic production and off-the-top-of-the-head rhymes. The production here is darker, but maintains a funky appeal.
NOCTURNAL is a true lyrical album. It focuses primarily on the the duo's nearly-unmatchable microphone skills. Rock and Ruck spit rhymes back and forth, almost non-stop, as if they could go on for days. Their combination of hip-hop realism and head-nodding beats makes this a solid debut.
Heltah Skeltah is comprised of MCs Ruck and Rock, two members of the loose-knit East Coast congregation Boot Camp Clik. The duo's debut establishes the crew as one of the most powerful members of the Clik, both in terms of technique and production. Most of Nocturnal is straight-ahead East Coast gangsta rap with layered soundscapes, and even if these soundscapes are seamlessly crafted, they are only there as a backdrop -- the main intent of the entire album is to showcase the talents of Ruck and Rock, and do they ever ...
