| | Bobby Womack Best Of The Poets CD Bobby Womack Discography of CDs
(1 Customer Review)
2006 issue of the best of Bobby Womack's "The Poet" trilogy that was released in the first half of the 1980's on the independent Beverly Glen label. The soul legend had reinvented his entire sound structure, instead opting for a light jazz feel that was quite popular at that time. The second volume of the series featured several duets with Patti Labelle, which helped prompt A&R at MCA to sign her up at the end of her Philly International tenure. The second disc of this set features acoustic versions from the trilogy as well. Featured players on these sessions include George Benson, Nathan East, Womack & Womack, The Crusaders' Wilton Felder, The Waters, Paulinho da Costa and many more.

$14.79 S.P. - The world of music is not new to singer, songwriter, arranger, and producer Steven 'S.P.' Wayne. S.P. was born in Los Angeles, California, and his gift of music was recognized in pre-school during a solo performance of 'It Only Takes a Spark,' a beautiful hymn that he performed with confidence and brilliance. The beauty of his voice was recognized at an early age, however, his passion for music would come later. While listening to the radio with his grandmother, Tramaine Hawkins began to sing her popular song, 'Going Up Yonder.' 'My grandmother said to me, 'see how she is singing that song? You have to sing with passion and the spirit. ' I was 6 years old when she said that to me, and it is the statement that fuels my music even today', states S.P. It took some time for that message to sink in, but it did. S.P. has performed all across the country, as a background singer and as a solo artist, and he has ...

Best Of The Poets music CDs
$10.15 "If the music world is seeking something worthwhile, original, refreshingly sincere and damn good to boot, then Stewart McKenzie and David Burns have the answer." Roxanne Blanford, StylusMagazine "It's refreshing to find some brothers that are talented enough to interject personality into their music while simultaneously displaying the expertise and skills that are required to make a creative and competitive product." Gian Fiero, MusesMuse "A definite grower that after a few plays really gets to you - deserves wider recognition." SoulBrother "The album shows that the team is off to a great start!" DustyGroove THE MCKENZIE BURNS PROJECT is a smooth R&B effort that plays like a tasty musical gumbo. While the foundation is strictly R&B and pop, there are some funky jazz, hip-hop, dance, and Latin influences throughout. The main focus here is relationships- and there are some bitter and sweet stories within the music that make the songs very familiar to any listener who has or has not been in a healthy relationship. The McKenzie Burns Project is a novel of upbeat, urban grooves, sensuous Brazilian rhythms, and memorable melodies. With such a collection of styles, the album remains cohesive and serves as a dynamic soundtrack for that next road trip. Producers Stewart McKenzie and David Burns met through a mutual friend three years ago ...
