Wow, this is intense! It doesn't even matter that there are only three songs on A Profound Hatred of Man, it's good enough to influence another page in the maturity of hardcore. Sure it's heavy, sure there's lots of metallic guitar crunches, and sure enough they're pretty angry, but the Shai Hulud aren't a bunch of muscleheads. Instead, there's more of a developed, complex sound to the point where each song will fly into a hundred different directions before it ends; it's more "grown up" in comparison to all the hard guy mentality that's infiltrated the hardcore scene. This is definitely a sign of better things to come. ~ Mike DaRonco
Profound Hatred of Man originates in 1997, when Shai Hulud issued its first single. Since that time, this Florida hardcore unit has broken so many barriers inside and outside the genre its almost difficult to classify them. Profound Hatred of Man. issued by Revelation. assembles together the bands' first single and album of the same title. The breakneck tempos, crushing guitars, tempo shifts, and genre changes are all here, especially in their treatment of covers such as Bad Brains' "Fearless Vampire Killers," Metallica's "Damage Inc.," and Negative Approach's "Lost Cause." ~ Thom Jurek

| | Bobbie Gentry Patchwork/Fancy CD (2007) Reissue
Profound Hatred Of Man songs
$17.75 Though the Mississippi singer Bobbie Gentry was best known for her 1967 hit, the eerie "Ode to Billie Joe," she continued to make records until she retired from show business in the mid-1970s. This twofer, which showcases her final two releases, includes her versions of Bacharach and David's "I'll Never Fall in Love Again" and "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head," as well as Laura Nyro's "Wedding Bell Blues."
Combined for the first time on one cd, raven presents two unique albums by the legendary grammy-award winning singer/songwriter bobbie gentry. While best remembered for her first and biggest hit, the bittersweet 'ode to billie joe', gentry continued to prove herself a performer and writer of rare talent, issuing a string of high quality albums until her retirement in the early 1970s. Her recordings have undergone serious re-evaluation in recent years. 'patchwork' and 'fancy were' gentry's last two albums, both superb examples of her artistry. 'patchwork' is a fan favorite and the most requested of her albums to be reissued on cd. Entirely self-penned, it is a marvellous song-cycle embracing personal relationships and obsessions, ...
