Live At Voodoo Fest '04 CD music
$14.38 The latest album from Swedish doom rockers Katatonia, their first studio effort since 2006, is as moody and beautiful as their other latter-day work. The group's career can be marked in two stages based on the condition of singer Jonas Renske's vocal cords -- basically, after the band's first two albums, he developed health problems that prevented him ...

Live At Voodoo Fest '04 album
$15.85 The superlative repackaging and remastering undertaken by Ryko has put the original three-part, two-record set of this magnificent nonsense tale together for the first time. This is back to the madness of Freak Out, with more pop and doo-wop bursting through all the complicated stuff, letting you know that Zappa could write a hit single, if he could be bothered to do so. Joe's Garage is ...

$10.15 Cosmic American Music Meets Indie Rock.THE AUSTIN CHRONICLEOCTOBER 31, 2008BY DOUG FREEMANThe Lonesome HeroesCrooked Highway3 Shining Lone StarsFronted by local free spirits Rich Russell and Landry McMeans, the Lonesome Heroes' psych-country sound proves equally restless. Whereas 2006 EP Don't Play to Lose wandered with a gentle ease, the group's debut full-length moves in more focused, if experimentally flourished, directions. "Lonestar" opens with a lilting warp and rough guitar distortion, Russell's playful drawl shading Lyle Lovett. McMeans' soft trill on "Canary" and "Stardust" lifts the album into airier climes that balance Russell's earthier tones, like Alison Krauss with a Texas twang, the best songs marrying the two vocal impulses in duet. Like the titular thoroughfare, the LP's merit lies in its peripheral surprises, Seth Gibbs' subtle, effects-laden production winding McMeans' Dobro through the pull of Sarah Stollak's fiddle on "Detained Dream" and spotlighting Kullen Fuchs' French horn on "Turn On the Shine.""The Lonesome Heroes are on a mission to make a different kind of country music. With its Grapes of Wrath era feel soaked in reverb, you get the feeling you are listening to a long distant echo of something that once was. The drifting melancholy and bittersweet style is beyond the range of their youth, and yet it seems totally natural to them."The Austin Daze.BIOIt’s a big strange world out there full of beautiful overlooked roadsides, mountains, and people, and The Lonesome Heroes want to find every one. A band with a mission, they seek to spread psychedelic country tones wherever they go, and with 419,000 miles on their trusted rusted van Helga they sometimes seem to be running on sheer luck and determination. Many people wince at the mention of Country Music, but The Lonesome Heroes quickly unfurl brows through their subtle meshing of Indie Rock, Folk, Country and Psychedelic tones. The core of the band consists of the shared songwriting and vision of Brooklyn raised songwriter Rich Russell and Texas raised songwriter/artist Landry McMeans. The duo splits singing, guitar, and steel guitar duties to create songs that bridge the gap between north and south, and modern and traditional songwriting. Relying on a long list of incredible musicians from around the country to fill out the band, the Lonesome Heroes continually push the boundaries of Country, ...
