Following up on the momentum of its hit U.K. debut, UP ALL NIGHT, Razorlight issued its self-titled sophomore album in 2006, unveiling another strikingly assured set of energetic Britpop. With an upbeat, straightforward approach marked by shimmering, anthemic guitar lines and driving rhythms, Razorlight, led by the gleefully self-absorbed singer Johnny Borrell, reinforced its lauded status with supremely catchy, post-punk-inspired tunes such as the jaunty "In the Morning" and the playfully titled R.E.M. nod "Pop Song 2006."
Razorlight: Johnny Borrell (vocals, guitar); Bjorn Agren (guitar); Carl Dalemo (bass instrument); Andy Burrows (drums).
Spin (p.111) - 3.5 stars out of 5 -- "Borrell and his mates give post-Strokes neo-garage rock a tidy soul makeover, adding a catchy one-handed piano and funky Motown bass lines to the jumpy guitar fuzz the genre demands." Q (p.126) - Ranked #3 in Q Magazine's "100 Greatest Albums of 2006." Razorlight Review

| | Anthrax Among The Living CDs (1987) With DVD; Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Razorlight
$21.94 When Anthrax released AMONG THE LIVING in 1987, the band was a part of a then-burgeoning heavy metal sub-genre called speed or thrash metal. This was an inversion of glam metal. The band members wore worn-out jeans and T-shirts, their long hair was hairspray-free, and not a smudge of make-up was applied to their unsightly mugs. Their music was dense, borrowing speed from punk and hardcore and mammoth guitar riffing from metal, and featured thought-provoking lyrics. AMONG THE LIVING not only served as Anthrax's commercial breakthrough, but (along with seminal releases by Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer) the album brought this new musical form to the forefront.
The members of Anthrax were a bunch of comic-book-reading, jam-wearing heavy metal fans from ...

| | Brandi Carlile Give Up The Ghost CD (2009)
Razorlight
$11.39 If there was any flaw with Brandi Carlile's second album, THE STORY, it's that it was perhaps a touch too austere, painted in amber tones by producer T Bone Burnett. Its 2009 sequel, GIVE UP THE GHOST, opens up and breathes, perhaps partially due to swapping T Bone for Rick Rubin, who retains the spooky, serious vibe but makes things a little less chilly. This isn't sealed off; there is room for guests ...

| | Blood On The Wall CD (2004)
Razorlight
$12.49 Almost everything about Blood on the Wall's self-titled debut is hyperactive: all strummy guitars, jumpy rhythms, and yelped vocals, the album's dozen songs breathe new life into now-traditional indie rock moves. They may not be the most inventive band, but they are an enthusiastic one, and that energy goes a long way toward making Blood on the Wall so entertaining. A key part of the band's appeal is the contrast between ...

| | Primatives Primitive Spirit CD (2006)
Razorlight
$8.69 PRIMITIVE SPIRIT Spiritually inspired "Folk Music that Rocks". Organic, straight from the heart. The Primatives credit a spectrum of influences, (George Harrison, Neil Young, Sting, Jefferson Airplane, The Grateful Dead, Dylan, Van Morrison, Emmy Lou Harris, to name a few). Primitive Spirit is a big change from our first CD, in that we have taken a more "organic" and acoustic approach to it. However, it is not completely acoustic, as variety is a tasty spice with us. Also, we believe it is coming from a more comfortable place, spiritually, with certainly less "relationship anguish" in songwriter Jesse's life. Primitive Spirit includes some of our often requested material such as "The Ocean of Phenomena", in which the world is seen as a form of art by the Master Artist, "Livin" ("i won't be livin, this life that i've been given"), and "Simple Love" ("tell the story of simple love")We are very excited about this project, because it is to represent us as we are. We have way more material to record and have also begun work on a 3rd CD. THE PRIMATIVES-Folk Music that Rocks--Jesse S. Hanson (songwriter, vocals, guitars)-Lila Hanson (vocals, silver flute, mrdanga and other percussion)-Jack (vocals, electric bass)-*Audrey Hanson (vocals)-*Vincent Graves (electric bass)"The Primatives feature a blend of rock with eclectic influences of folk stylings and Indian rhythms. Jesse Hanson's melodic vocals and song lines are well-matched with pulsating, energetic guitar. These songs drive the point straight home in a style reminiscent of the influential Neil Young. The songs are supported by Jesse's wife, Lila, who adds her own multi-cultural influence with percussive instruments and the flute and by Jack on bass whose musical interests range from folk to Dave Brubeck. They both add nicely balanced supportive vocals. The energy between Lila and Jesse feels magical." -Tim Brodkorb (Rainbow Rising Coffee House) Smithton, PA-"One key to the early Airplane's success was the vocal blend of co-founders Marty Balin and Paul Kantner, along with Signe Anderson, the original female singer. The combination of two men and one woman worked effectively to the point where it became a template for other folk-rock groups to follow. So it's with high praise that I compare the sound of the Primatives to that of the Airplane. The trio - Jesse Hanson; his wife, Lila; and their bass player, Jack - basically features three lead singers, a distinctive touch in a day one most bands seem to lean toward one front man (or woman). - Harry Funk (Washington Observer Reporter) "Hey, I just saw you at the Coffee Den. That was a superb show. I loved the intimacy of it too, it reminded me a lot of when I saw CSN at the Palumbo Center since that was ...

Razorlight
$11.39 with members of SANTANA, CONSOLIDATED and MEAT BEAT MANIFESTOThe LATIN SOUL SYNDICATE is a band that arose out of the friendship between Happy Sanchez, Mark Pistel and Karl Perazzo. In the late '70s, Happy and Karl became friends while playing around the salsa scene in their native San Francisco. Karl went on to play percussion with SHEILA E's band, and in 1986, Happy opened up a rehearsal/recording studio, working with local bands as a musician and producer. In the early '90s Karl was asked to join SANTANA. At the same time, the industrial/hip-hop group CONSOLIDATED, which included Mark Pistel, was becoming popular on the local scene. By the late '90s, Happy had started a record label and hired Mark to produce and engineer some of his artists. In 2000, Happy brought in Mark and Karl to help on a project, and the three discovered how much fun they had working together. After leaving his band LOS MOCOSOS in 2002, Happy decided to put a musical group together with Mark and Karl. He called it the LATIN SOUL SYNDICATE.MEMBERSKARL PERAZZO has played drums and percussion since the age of 2. He started playing in his parents' band at age 7, and went on to play with the best musicians in pop, jazz, rock and Latin music. He is currently a member of SANTANA, with whom he has recorded three albums, including the 15 million-selling "Supernatural". Other artists Karl has recorded and played with include MALO, CAL TJADER, DIZZY GILLESPIE, ANDY NARREL, RAY OBIEDO, TOM COSTER, PETE ESCOVEDO, LOS MOCOSOS, SHEILA E., PRINCE, MARIAH CAREY, and PAQUITO D'RIVERA. Karl is also featured on the latest JOHN LEE HOOKER album.Karl has performed on an array of TV shows, including American Bandstand, Soul Train, The Super Bowl Half Time Show, Jay Leno, Johnny Carson, David Letterman, the Grammy Awards and the American Music Awards. He was the first percussionist to be invited to sit in with the house band on The Arsenio Hall Show, with whom he played several times, including Arsenio's 100th show.MARK PISTEL is best known as a founding member of the left-wing dance/hip-hop outfit CONSOLIDATED. He has collaborated frequently with MICHAEL FRANTI and the DISPOSABLE HEROES OF HIPHOPRISY ("Hypocrisy Is the Greatest Luxury") as well as MEAT BEAT MANIFESTO ("Subliminal Sandwich"). Mark has produced and remixed a wide variety of artists including GRACE JONES, BUSH and 900 FT. JESUS. He released an eponymous solo album in 1997.HAPPY SANCHEZ is a San Francisco native who has played music since the age of 13. After studying for three years at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Happy began playing bass in the local salsa scene, where he met Karl Perazzo. Around this time he discovered a passion for recording, and worked hard to develop his skill by buying a Tascam 4-track and recording anyone who would let him. In his early 20s, Happy discovered the underground hardcore-punk scene in San Francisco, and recorded bands like FLIPPER, FRIGHTWIG and the TOILING MIDGETS. In 1987, he was asked to join the popular band RED 7, unfortunately right before they broke up. However, he inherited a large amount of the band's equipment, which allowed him to open up a rehearsal/recording studio. In 1994, after eight years of recording, producing and managing ...
