Triplet Records Inc. introduces a new solo piano series…March 13/06Muskoka Solace: TMPS # 1 UPC-A 6 2076-61014-2 3Release date: May 1 2006The Music of Scott Joplin, performed by Steve Hunter.Recorded Jan 24th and February 2nd 2006.Triplet Master Piano Series (TMPS) is a new series of solo piano recordings from Triplet Records Inc. The inaugural release (titled Muskoka Solace) is a collection of Scott Joplin’s songs that will take the listener back 100 years to a peaceful and simpler time. According to Triplet Records Inc. founders, Joe Sealy and Paul Novotny, “future recordings will feature songbooks from composers such as Duke Ellington, Hoagy Carmichael, George Gershwin and Cole Porter. Also there will be room for artists to contribute original repertoire, note Sealy and Novotny. Pianists will choose their songbook based on a long personal relationship with the music. The series will have its roots in jazz but will border other genres as well. The quality of the recordings will be warm and the piano itself is dynamic and sonorous. When all is combined we aim to offer the listener a wonderful mood throughout the recording.Piano virtuoso Steve Hunter is the first artist to be featured. Hunter offers up Scott Joplin’s music in a fresh new light. The performance is sensitive, thoughtful and tells a story that gives wonderful insight into the era. Steve Hunter has been playing Scott Joplin’s music for over thirty years. Hunter says, “The music has humility, humor, pathos and unpredictability. In my opinion these traits have not really been evident in most performances of Joplin’s music to date.” Hunter also says, “the opportunity to do this recording is the fulfillment of a dream that I’ve had since I was 14 years old”.The question may arise as to why this recording is titled Muskoka Solace. Sealy and Novotny say, ‘The answer is simple, because Steve envisions listening to this music at his cottage in the Muskoka area, located just north of Toronto”. Steve says’ “The slower tempo of life, the fresh air and old soul feel is a wonderful compliment to Joplin’s music”. Steve is right, but we also suggest that if you can’t get to your cottage this weekend, you may try playing Muskoka Solace wherever you are. It might just offer up that “old soul mood” with out the long drive.Contact:Triplet Records Inc. 416-961-9440 joe@tripletrecords.compaul@tripletrecords.comTriplet / Bringing forth the sweat the soul / The sound / Inspired by the past / Relevant to the times / Accessible to more ears / Without prejudice / Without boundaries // Old school / New school / Music for the time we live in / Our name is Triplet ©2006 Steve Hunter Muskoka Solace Songs | 1. | solace |

Muskoka Solace
$8.99 BRITNEY was nominated for the 2003 Grammy Awards for Best Pop Vocal Album. "Overprotected" was nominated for the 2003 Grammy Awards for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
Well, the question is no longer whether she's a little girl or a woman--Britney Spears has obviously been the latter for some time. The question now is how long she'll be able to pretend at keeping us guessing, and how long we'll pretend not to know the answer. With BRITNEY she continues the dance of corrupted youth and innocence to the delight of both her female fans and dirty old and young men everywhere.
While it's by no means the best song on the album, the ballad "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman" typifies her commercial appeal (interestingly, though she writes several songs here, this one was written for her). The songs that ring truest here are those penned by Spears herself, such as the Chic-influenced "Anticipating" and the R&B flavored "Lonely," which play down the innocent girl/tart predicament in favor of presumably more realistic scenarios such as checking out ...

Muskoka Solace
$13.85 While it didn't see release until 2001, this quintet date was recorded in 1993 at New York's Birdland, which at the time was still on 105th Street (it would soon move to 44th, near Times Square). Joining trumpet legend Clark Terry in the front line is the young alto saxophonist Jesse Davis, who is quite at home with the bop-oriented material at hand. Pianist Don Friedman, bassist Marcus McLaurine, and drummer Sylvia Cuenca complete the lineup, helping Terry do his ...
| | Bill Jones Two Year Winter CDs (2003)
Muskoka Solace
$15.39 Bill Jones has quickly come to occupy a place in British folk music similar to Kate Rusby. She's very much at home with traditional songs (and music, since she's a very capable multi-instrumentalist), giving them an intimate, contemporary feel without ever losing their history, and she's also an excellent songwriter whose pieces fit in perfectly well with the continuum of folk. Two Year Winter (which comes with the four-track Bits and Pieces EP as a second lovely disc) shows how she's continuing her rapid growth. She's also learned to pick work from other writers, like "From My Window," which opens the record, or Pete Morton's wonderful "The Two Brothers," letting them sit very comfortably next to ballads like "The Holland Mistress," whose jaunty tune belies its dark subject ...
