Gang Green Season album
$10.75 Detroit rapper Obie Trice is widely known as a protégé of controversial hip-hop superstar Eminem. With appearances on Em's 8 MILE soundtrack and a debut album, CHEERS, in the can, Trice reaches for the brass ring on the follow-up, SECOND ROUND'S ON ME. And he gets off to a brilliant start with leadoff single "Since They Wanna Know." Built out of the powerhouse hometown hard-rock of Power of Zeus's 1970 hitter "It Couldn't Be Me," the track became the unofficial theme song of the third season of HBO's series ENTOURAGE, and was subsequently heard by millions. Leaning heavily on a mid-paced, paranoid gangsta-rap production style, evidenced on tracks like "They Wanna Kill Me" and "Snitch" (a duet with Akon), Trice stakes his claim as a tough, swaggering performer whose self-awareness never undermines his hard, ghetto edge.

| | Lloyd Banks Rotten Apple CD (2006)
Gang Green Season songs
$10.45 50 Cent protegee and G-Unit crew member Lloyd Banks returns with ROTTEN APPLE, the follow-up to his successful 2004 debut. With beats from 9th Wonder, Havoc, Needlz, Dave Morris, Fatin, Midi Mafia, Timbaland, and Eminem, and a controlled flow that at times outdoes his mentor in sheer slickness, the Queens native shines here. The album rigidly adheres to the same "commercial-but-street" blueprint followed by virtually every G-Unit, Dipset, and Roc-A-Fella solo release. ...
| | Young Buck Buck The World CD (2006)
Gang Green Season album
$12.99 On the studio follow-up to his enormously successful debut, STRAIGHT OUTTA CASHVILLE, the weight is on Young Buck. After a few stumbles, 50 Cent's G-Unit collective was hoping for a crew member to come up big. And Buck does just that, as BUCK THE WORLD follows in the same vein as CASHVILLE, marrying the Tennessee native's grimy Dirty South flows with a straight-up East Coast thug format. Still, BUCK THE WORLD reaches further, even ...

| | John Holt I Can't Get You Off My Mind: 18 Greatest Hits At Studio One CD (2006)
Gang Green Season album
$15.05 This entertaining collection of lovers rock singer John Holt's late-1960s recordings spans the ephemeral pop of "OK Fred" and the social commentary of "Change Your Style"--neither of which particularly suit Holt's sophisticated, nuanced vocal abilities--and his masterful covers of the Neil Diamond-penned "Holly Holy" and "Soolaiman." In between there are early lovers rock experiments like "Have You Ever Been in Love," "Darling I Need Your Loving," and "Stranger in Love." Though Holt's major successes wouldn't come until the early '70s, this set reveals the roots of one of Jamaican music's biggest stars.

| | MF Doom Mm..Food CD (2004)
Gang Green Season music CDs
$14.25 A rare release under his proper moniker after a string of alter-ego efforts, MF Doom's solo tour de force originally appeared in 2004. Culinary arts, digestive misadventures, and nourishment in general are themes that run throughout the 15-deep tracklist. Count Bass D, Madlib, and PNS provide supplemental beatwork and Mr. Fantastik, Angelika, 4ize, and Count Bass himself lay down guest verses.
With production that leans heavily on easy-listening loops, obscure TV and radio program samples, and the underground antihero's trademark wildly inventive lyricism, ...

| | Miles Davis Muted Miles CD (2008)
Gang Green Season album
$10.05 During the 1950s, Miles Davis enjoyed one of his first successes while recording for Prestige Records. Towards the end of his tenure there, Miles also recorded for Prestige with his first great quintet, which featured Philly Joe Jones on drums, Red Garland on piano, and the up-and-coming John Coltrane on saxophone. The jazz classics WORKIN', RELAXIN', and COOKIN', among other gems, were released during this period.
MUTED MILES compiles tracks from Miles's entire Prestige period, giving particular attention to the quintet recordings. Cuts such as "If I Were A Bell," "'Round Midnight," and "In Your Own Sweet Way" showcase the impeccably cool yet complex sound of the group (in which Miles often played with a mute, giving rise to this collection's title). For those unfamiliar with this classic material, MUTED ...
