(2 Customer Reviews)
Australian pressing of the second major label outing from Matisyahu, a compelling mix of ancient and modern sounds and ideas, features a bonus disc with five additional tracks: 'King Without A Crown' (Mike D Remix), 'Dub Warrior', 'Youth Dub', 'Fire Of Heaven Dub' and 'Spark Seekers'. The album itself has received glowing reviews worldwide and has continued to build his reputation on top of the success of his previous release, Live At Stubbs. Apart from the bonus disc, the original album features 13 tracks including 'Late Night In Zion', Fire Of Heaven/Alter Of Earth', 'Dispatch The Troops' and more for a total of 18 slices of Matisyahu. BMG. 2006.
Following up his much-heralded live album and a prominent guest appearance on P.O.D.'s TESTIFY, Hasidic reggae singer Matisyahu unveiled his major-label studio debut, YOUTH, in early 2006. Primarily produced by Bill Laswell (something of an avant-garde equivalent to Rick Rubin), this 2006 outing finds Matisyahu backed by his LIVE AT STUBBS ensemble (here dubbed Roots Tonic), which can turn on a dime from dancehall to heavy rock. Although labeled by some as a novelty act, Matisyahu presents his unusual musical hybrid with passion, whether charging through the fierce, Bad Brains-like title track or plaintively crooning on the acoustic "What I'm Fighting For" (which strongly recalls Bob Marley's "Redemption Song"), proving that his attempts to reach out and transcend musical and cultural boundaries are, if nothing else, genuine.
Personnel: Matisyahu (vocals); Roots Tonic.
Rolling Stone (p.90) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "His voice is nimble....His band plays one-drop roots reggae like a group of Jam Cruise vets, turning up the heat..." Q (p.117) - 4 stars out of 5 -- "This is rousing reggae with soaring melodies which harks back to the glory days of the '70s..." Q (p.116) - Ranked #100 in Q Magazine's "100 Greatest Albums of 2006." Global Rhythm (Publication) (p.44) - "Filled with songs of love and faith....It's varied, musical and just plain funky enough that people will want to listen to these songs for a long time to come." Mojo (Publisher) (p.113) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "Miller matches his own spirituality with that of his adopted genre." Buy Youth CD | | Matisyahu

Youth album
$14.30 Just half a year from the release of the mysteriously unauthorized catalog clearinghouse/label kiss off Murder Was the Case, Gucci Mane returns with The State vs. Radric Davis, his latest on Warner Bros.' Asylum imprint. True to form, the bling-loving rapper brings the club-ready Dirty South rap, complete with trunk-rattling bass and trademark synths. Featuring production by Drumma Boy, Mannie Fresh, Shawty Redd, and Scott Storch, amongst others, it's no surprise that the album is able to perfectly capture the low and slow Southern sound. Some of the best beats come by way of Bangladesh (producer on the Lil Wayne single "A Milli"), who drops some seriously roll slowing Atlanta heat on "Stupid Wild" and "Lemonade." The all-star roster doesn't just stop on the production side. Soulja Boy Tell `Em, Rick ...

| | Stevie Wonder Innervisions CD (1973) Remastered
Youth songs
$10.85 After breaking away from the Motown singles mode, Wonder began creating albums that were visionary in concept, sound, and construction. The greatest of these is 1973's INNERVISIONS (1976's SONG IN THE KEY OF LIFE was also an indisputable masterpiece, yet it lacks the economy and focus of INNERVISIONS). Moving largely away from romantic themes (the beautiful "Golden Lady" is the exception), ...

| | Debbie Davies Tales From The Austin Motel CD (1999)
Youth music CDs
$14.45 For Tales from the Austin Motel, Debbie Davies temporarily ditched her touring band and teamed up with drummer Chris Layton and bassist Tommy Shannon, better known as the rhythm section of Stevie Ray Vaughan's legendary supporting group, Double Trouble. The intention was to craft a tribute album to their influences and collegues -- namely, the Texas blues giants Albert Collins, Stevie Ray Vaughan. The trio tackles a number of covers, including such standards as "I Want to Be Loved" and "I Just Want to Make Love to You," but the majority of the album is devoted to Davies originals. They're all solid, journeyman songs -- nothing too special, ...
| | VI-3 So Tight CD (2002)
Youth songs
$8.19 There was a time when teen music meant the Osmonds, the Partridge Family, and the DeFranco Family. That was back in the '70s; from the late '80s on, the music known as teen pop has been influenced by dance-pop, hip-hop, and urban contemporary. Teen popsters may not sound like they're from the 'hood, but they do combine bubblegum pop with elements of music that comes from the 'hood. At first glance, Vi3 might seem like just ...

When they say music has no barriers, Wanting's audience fully understand the meaning of that. You can catch her Chinese songs her live shows. Wanting plans to release a Chinese album for her audience in China in the future. Wanting is unstoppable on stage, and lovable off stage. She is an amazingly talented raising star. Witness the power behind soaring melodies, downright manic moments and an inner beauty so selflessly on display.More about Wanting-Posted by Nathan StaffPacking up and moving to a foreign country on your own is sort of like being reborn. You have to start over, going from zero, learning everything there is to know about a strange, new culture. For starters, there's a language barrier, a culture barrier and not having any relatives around can be a bit much to anyone, let alone for a 16-year-old girl. Wanting came to Canada at age 16 completely on her own. The young lady soon experienced heartbreak, loneliness, nostalgia, confusion, sadness and short-lived happiness. These emotions and valuable lessons have forced her to grow up extremely fast. 'You are pretty much a nobody when you first go to a foreign country on your own. Without your family or friends that you made in high school being there with you to lend you a hand when you are in need, you have to prove to the people around you that you are worthy; that you can do what they do and, better. Nobody else is going to do things for you, you have to do it yourself. 'As an only child, Wanting felt a huge weight on her shoulders. In order to appease her beloved parents in China, she went to university and finished her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management, but there's only one thing that Wanting can be truly happy doing, and that's music. She followed her heart back to the piano, and started writing. Wanting's heartfelt lyrics vividly display her personal struggles and her views on life and love. She tells her stories through a powerful, yet gentle voice. Each melody captures a moment of her life that'll take you on a journey. 'Some of my friends have said that they see a different Wanting on stage. I agree. They are probably used to the Wanting who's fun, goofy, always joking around and easy-going. I mean, come on, who wants to see a grumpy old soul hanging around! But I think singing, writing and performing, for me at least, is a way to bring out the bottom of the iceberg you know? To truly bevulnerable and just!let it out. It's good to do that once in a while because it keeps you sane and happy. Now, not every song I write ...
