First Descent: The Story Of The Snowboarding Revolution Soundtrack CD music
$10.39 In the late 1990s, the television show SOUTH PARK sparked a trend of using figures associated with children's entertainment, such as puppets and animated characters, in the service of adult comedy. Depending on your viewpoint, this either generates marvelously clever social critique or cheap, tasteless jokes. Adding to the controversy is AVENUE Q, the smash Broadway hit that reads like a thinly veiled SESAME STREET parody, in which a charming puppet ...

First Descent: The Story Of The Snowboarding Revolution Soundtrack music CDs
$10.65 For anyone hasn't watched episodes of the Disney animated series PHINEAS AND FERB, it's highly recommended. It is a Saturday morning cartoon comedy that stars two irrepressibly inventive, multi-talented mischievous nerd geniuses (who happen to be stepbrothers), their vain, hyperactive, scheming sister Candace, and their pet platypus that happens to be a secret agent fighting an evil scientist. The plots are standard, and sometimes so are the jokes, but the characters aren't. One ...

| | Blu Cantrell So Blu CD (2001)
First Descent: The Story Of The Snowboarding Revolution Soundtrack songs
$6.05 "Hit 'Em Up Style (Oops!)" was nominated for the 2002 Grammy Awards for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance and for Best R&B Song.
Blu Cantrell's debut album is disarming in its defiance of expectations--there are no diva-driven, melismatic vocals, the ballads are for the most part stripped-down and spare, and the uptempo numbers are driving and to the point without indulging in street braggadocio. On the evidence of "I'll Find a Way," a contemporary gospel-inflected love song in the same way that Aretha Franklin's best cuts were infused with gospel, Cantrell has a long and distinguished line of influences on which to draw. She also tears through "Swingin'," a faked-up slice of '30s pastiche, with panache to spare.
She's more Lena Horne than Mariah Carey, and songs like "Hit 'Em Up Style (Oops!)" show an ease with earthy situations that Ma Rainey would have found familiar. Production values are stock turn-of-the-century urban R&B, but ...
