Liberty knew they had a superstar on the horizon, and its time for American audiences to hear the vocal talents of Miss Vikki Carr. I loved the big band sound Put Your Arms Around me (we ain't gonnin dancin!) and Moaning let Vikki give it to us, and Surrey with the fringe on Top I love too. I can remember her version on the Hollywood Palace. Time for more Vikki going
to her website now for concert dates.

I am having a great time with release after release of Vikki Carr's music. And can I say ABOUT TIME!!! I love the big band in many cuts on Vikki's very first vinyls for Liberty. So In Love, Moanin', Put Your Arms Around Me, Surrey with the...and Where Are You? really stuck in my brain. EMI remastered this pair of LPs wonderfully, and if you don't have this CD in your music collection, grab it now! You will love it!

Wow! What a GREAT CD! This CD is truly a jewel with such greats as "Quiet Nights", "Moanin'", "Look Again", "How Does The Wine Taste?".
I should just go down the list, they are all GREAT! Vikki's voice is so pure and crisp, just heavenly. This is a VOICE and this is what music was meant to be like. Buy this CD, you won't be disappointed.

By using the much-abused word "definitive" in the title, the U.K. branch of Warner Music has a lot to live up to in this two-CD Dionne Warwick compilation. Happily, Warner controls not only the recordings Warwick made for Warner Bros. Records in the 1970s, but also the Scepter Records catalog that contains her 1960s hits. Thus, the label had access to her work from 1962 up until 1978. The compilers have taken a roughly chronological approach, beginning with her first U.S. single, "Don't Make Me Over," and including all of her American Top 40 hits of the period (and all her U.K. chart entries), with one exception. They don't seem to have realized that Warwick's 1970 hit with "Make It Easy on Yourself" was a recently recorded live version, and so they have stuck her 1963 studio recording in among the early-'70s tracks midway through the second disc. ...

Hanging around the top of the Chicago world music scene for a number of years, Funkadesi put together Yo Baba, their third full-length.
