Live In New York City album
$11.99 This is a collection of Spanish and American songs by Queen's lead singer Freddie Mercury and opera singer Montserrat Caballe.
With Barcelona, Queen singer Freddie Mercury realized his long-lived dream of performing with an opera singer; in this case, Montserrat Caballe. While it's certainly a treat for any fan of Mercury's to hear this album, it's a difficult record to recommend. Most fans of opera will probably find it far too simplistic and pop-based, while many rock fans are sure to find the record too classical. The first half of the album, however, is deserving of a spin for any open-minded listener. Consisting of semi-operatic melodies with grand production, songs like "Barcelona" and the Eastern-sounding "La Japonaise" are startling in their beauty; the two singers from opposite ends of the music spectrum working surprisingly well off each other. The most classically operatic pieces of the project, "Ensueno" and "The Fallen Priest," are alternately gorgeous and powerfully dramatic. Unfortunately, the second half of the album is less successful as it reverses the formula of the first half. While Mercury can do ...
| | Bounty Killer Ghetto Dictionary: The Art Of War CD (2002)
Live In New York City CD music
$14.59 Released in conjunction with the similarly packaged Ghetto Dictionary: The Mystery, Ghetto Dictionary: The Art of War is a 20-track compilation of Bounty Killer tracks organized around a single theme: his supremacy over other DJs. The practice of DJ battling is a long-standing and venerable one in the dancehall reggae world, and Bounty Killer is one of its most respected practitioners. But as impressive as his lyrical flow and powerful delivery are, he is hobbled on ...
| | Jay-Z Unfinished Business CD (2004)
Live In New York City music CDs
$15.39 On a Friday evening in October 2004, the volatile union between two always-controversial artists, R. Kelly and Jay-Z, famously came to a crashing halt before thousands on stage in New York's Madison Square Garden. Kelly stormed off the stage, and accusations of pepper-spray attacks, guns in the audience, and superstar insecurity flew. Lawyers became involved, and the fight was on.
In happier times, merely days earlier, Kelly and Jay-Z released their second and (barring a reconciliation of epic proportions) final collaboration, UNFINISHED BUSINESS. While a clash of egos may have dissolved the duo, those enlarged egos are a result of titanic talents; when combined in a recording studio, R. Kelly's ...
| | Method Man 4:21... The Day After CDs (2006)
Live In New York City songs
$12.59 When Wu-Tang took the world by storm in 1994, Method Man was the first member to drop a solo album, the now classic TICAL. With undeniable charisma, a sing-song, rise-and-fall flow, and an incredible ability to spin memorable hooks, Meth quickly became one of the most prolific cameo-makers in hip-hop. Since his debut, though, Method Man like many of his Wu brethren has stood in the shadow of his early work, with rap fans perennially hoping he'll regain the ruggedness of his hungry, pre-superstar days.
On his fourth release, 2006's 4:21 THE DAY AFTER, Meth gets production from Erick Sermon, Scott Storch, Havoc, K1, and just a few beats from the RZA and continues to develop his sound in line with the 2000s Def Jam formula for crossover success. This is not necessarily a bad thing but it definitely establishes his solo work apart from the group he came up with, both in style and substance. Yet guest appearances ...

Now teaming up with San Francisco-based production duo Blue Sky Black Death (made up of Kingston ...

$34.15 Just when it seemed that System of a Down couldn't do anything to improve on their standing as the most unique and ambitious band in the alternative metal world, they decided to drop their sprawling, Rick Rubin-produced double album by releasing each disc separately. Early 2005 saw the arrival of MESMERIZE. After that album gained significant exposure via tours, ...
