| | David Reinstein Chasing The Tiger CD David Reinstein Discography of CDs
A native of New York City, David came to Detroit with his family at the age of five. He would spend his formative years in the Motor City. As a child, he began learning to play the saxophone in public school and started to noodle around on the family’s old upright piano. As a young teenager, he became aware of the power music has in creating mood. This revelation was to have a profound influence on the course of David’s life. Simply put, he felt music was the best way to positively effect people on this planet. Upon graduating from The University of Michigan with a degree in General Studies and after years of self-directed music studies and gigs, he made the decision to make music his life. He moved to Boston and studied classical piano with Madame Margaret Chaloff and jazz piano with Charles Banacos. David also studied saxophone with Joe Viola, head of the woodwind department at The Berklee School of Music. Largely self-educated as a writer, David continues to this day to probe the depths of music both as a composer and student of the art form. He has scored radio, television, and industrial film projects for clients like J. Walter Thompson, Y&R, BBDO, WTVS television, Masco, K-Mart, Budweiser, Doner, MichCon and Ford Motor Company. David’s original music has been broadcast on the Weather Channel. He has written the signature themes for several Detroit television shows and in 1999 won a Michigan Emmy for Gunsense, an award-winning project produced by Detroit Public Television. As a performing artist David has shared the stage with Jon Luc Ponty, Stanley Clark, Peter Frampton, John McLaughlin, Jimmy Cliff, Peter Tosh, Bryan Adams, Brian Setzer, Robert Cray and many others. He continues to perform as a saxophonist and pianist in a variety of musical settings. David Reinstein Chasing The Tiger Songs | 1. | Streetcorner Soiree |

| | Tri-Fi Postcards CD (2007)
Chasing The Tiger songs
$18.95 Tri-Fi is back with another exciting recording - and a bulk of online bonus material to go with it.The jazz piano trio, Tri-Fi (Matthew Fries, piano; Keith Hall, drums; and Phil Palombi, bass), have just released their second trio CD, Postcards. It is a follow up to their critically acclaimed self-titled album and offers a whole new set of original compositions. On Postcards, the three musicians again share compositional duties and the resulting music on the CD ranges widely in style and influence. “The album is entirely original material,” says drummer, Hall, “most of which was written specifically for this recording. We also took some chances exploring some different directions, which I think proved to be a lot of fun and very musical.” Postcards from Abroad, by Fries, is a subtle straight-eighth tune that features solos from Fries and Palombi before settling into a vamp that includes background vocals by the trio. The free-form blues ramble, Creative Force, by Hall, demonstrates the communication of the trio with an interactive shared solo between Fries and Hall before a surprising handoff to Fries for a feisty blues solo. The playful mixed meter tribute to Heathrow Airport, The Heathrow Shuffle, by Palombi, captures the fun side of the trio and features guest saxophonist, Steve Wilson, who makes a soulful contribution to three tracks on the recording.Tri-Fi were praised on their debut album for “the perpetual forward thrust of the music... and their flawless intercommunication" by All About Jazz, and described as infusing “creative writing, fresh arranging and complimentary playing to offer us music that has to be reckoned with” by JazzReview.com. Fries, Hall and Palombi have been touring together as sidemen with singer, Curtis Stigers, for over four years (totaling close to five hundred concerts together), and formed Tri-Fi as a way to step forward into the spotlight and create some original music in the classic jazz piano trio format. Their friendship and level of musical communication gained in their roles as sidemen are once again obvious in this exciting set of new music. The album contains twelve tracks and is available online at www.tri-fi.com – plus listeners who buy the album can access two bonus tracks, photos, videos, bootleg recordings and more from the website by entering a code found in the CD jacket. Pianist, Matthew Fries, was the winner of the Great American Piano Competition. Pianist and former Jazz Messenger, James Williams, called Fries “a bright young star in the galaxy of pianists who will lead ...
