End of an Era album for sale Product Description
End of an Era album for sale by Nightwish was released Jul 03, 2006 on the Spinefarm label. There's an element of Zen that's involved when listening to Nightwish -- you don't question the pageantry or analyze the music; you just let go and enjoy the experience. Perhaps it's no surprise then that End of an Era beings with "Red Warrior" from The Last Samurai booming over arena speakers while thousands of fans roar their approval. It's a dramatic introduction for a band that specializes in theatrics, all of which are captured on the album. End of an Era CD music contains a single disc with 18 songs. ...See Full Description

| Fine writing, interesting metal/opera sound This live concert recording is the best example of symphonic metal that you'll find anywhere. The instruments are electric guitar, bass guitar, keyboards, percussion, and digitally-recorded symphonic orchestra accompaniment. The music is fairly heavy and elaborate, but not flashy or too fast. Comparable sounding music might come from Pantera, Slayer, or perhaps Metallica. The operatic vocals are what separate this genre of metal from others. All but one of the Nightwish songs on this album are in English, "the international language". A vocal solo in the Finnish language is absolutely outstanding. The vocals are handled by opera-trained diva Tarja Turunen, and some by bassist Marco Hietala. Marco also performs all the lyrics on a Pink Floyd cover during a break for Tarja. You'll find it's very unique to hear heavy metal music with a female opera singer in the background. Her range is astounding, and she's beautiful as well. This is just an amazing album. I'm glad it's digital, because I would've worn out a vinyl copy by now. Nightwish was together for 8 years, from 1997 to 2005, and recorded several albums. If you are a metal-head who also likes classical and opera, and you like music that's fast and powerful, this is for you. | Live Nightwish While I love all of their work, early work included, it's too bad this live two disc set couldn't have included some of current singer Anne's work from Dark Passion Play. By kendalltripp (Boulder, CO) This review is for a different format. |
| Best Live album I have ever heard Im in love with this album. Tarja's voice live is flawless, same goes with Marco's. Too bad that she was fired right after the show. Nightwish rules! By tyfurlong (Alaska) This review is for a different format. |
| A performance for the ages This is the last nightwish performance with tarja. The concert sounds great and looks, this makes you realize how great nightwish really is. End of an Era is a must have for any fan of nightwish, dvd or cd, its great, just wondering when it could come out in america. Tarja is awesome, can't replace her. | The best of symphonic rock This Norwegian prog-rock band has been around since the late 1990's & has gotten little attention in the states. That's a shame. One listen to this group & you'll be hooked. This release could finally get them noticed...fingers crossed. By flattcow22 (FT. Lauderdale, Fl., USA) This review is for a different format. |
