On his third strictly solo album, Layzie Bone diversifies a bit. While he's still able to put down the highly influential, smoothed-out melodic sound from Bone Thugs-N-Harmony's heyday, he also brings the pain with gangsta lyrics that flow over more West Coast-influenced G-funk-style beats. THE NEW REVOLUTION features production by Fingazz and the Crime Lab as well as guest appearances from Big Sloan, Bizzy Bone, Mr. Criminal, Mr. Capone-E, Mr. Silent, and Mo Thugs.
This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. BONE 4 LIFE VOTE 4 ME, Is 2 me the best song from any Bone member solo album, other than maybe that song Paper, Paper, from Krayzie's first one. It's got that old Bone feel we all love, the whole cd pretty much does. This should be platinum. Submitted by I WisH 2 remain AnonymouS (Birch Run, MI) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

New Revolution album
$14.65 Bone Thugs-N-Harmony came straight out of Cleveland, Ohio in the early 1990s, capturing the ears of Eazy-E, and, subsequently, the rest of the country, with its then-unique blend of hardcore rap and harmonized vocals. After fading into the background for awhile, the Bone clan returned prominently in early 2005. THE BONE BROTHERS, a collaboration between Bizzy Bone and Layzie Bone, follows close on the heels of a strong solo effort by Krayzie Bone, as well as a retrospective of Bone Thugs' career, and features appearances by all four free Bones (with Flesh-N-Bone in jail).

$14.75 In 2006, Thug Brothers sure looks like two B-list players trying to stay off the C-list by teaming up. Layzie Bone's Bone crew have diluted their importance with a slew of underwhelming solo releases while Young Noble's Outlawz clique have been repeatedly accused of relying on their 2Pac relationship to the point of exploiting it into a career. If a worthy producer got a hold of the rhymes on Thug Brothers, there's a good chance Layzie and Noble would be reconsidered since inspiration has taken hold of this duo. Sure 2Pac is brought up by Noble more than warranted and the album is not without filler, but Thug ...

New Revolution CD music
$14.55 Maverick rapper Bizzy Bone's third release of 2006 -- and it's only July -- is yet another album that suggests the overly prolific man could up his chances if he slowed down and beefed up his quality control. At times, The Midwest Cowboy recalls 2004's very good Alpha and Omega, an album that included quite a bit of Bizzy's singing, and while it had plenty of the cryptic post-Bone lyrics that are now infamous, it didn't indulge to the point of disaster like some later albums. Also like Alpha and Omega, comprehendible bits of Bizzy's uneasy personal life shine through, extra ...

$10.49 A more than slightly interesting effort that finds Roger Waters playing film composer, albeit with a Radio K.A.O.S.-era sound. The music is dense, complex, structured as a one-act play in the context of the album. It and David Bowie's title song are the best points of this album -- the Genesis contribution is ho-hum, Squeeze boring, and Hugh Cornwell dreadful. ~ Steven McDonald
Raymond Briggs' animated tale about an elderly British couple living out their last days after the bomb has dropped spawned this hit-and-miss soundtrack, with contributions from Squeeze, David Bowie, Genesis, and a lengthy coda from Roger Waters and the Bleeding Heart Band. Bowie's "When the Wind Blows" and Genesis' "The Brazilian" seem to carry the most flow musically, and the ten-part medley from Waters and his studio team has its moments, but for the most part it drags and sputters with boggy instrumental staleness. Only "Folded Flags" seems to associate with the movie's cold war theme the best, and some relatively smooth saxophone playing from Mel Collins helps to ...
