This concert from their European tour in 1977 features the line up responsible for the Long Live Rock 'n' Roll album released later that year including vocalist Ronnie James Dio and drummer Cozy Powell. Extras include 3 original promo videos, interviews, photo gallery, and audio commentary. Rainbow - Live In Munich 1977 Movie Review Average Rating: (4.2 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Good show - video could have been better Rainbow was a good show - on CD; however, I thought the video clarity could have been better. I think the problem is that when the show was filmed, the stage was too dark and prevent ample light from giving the clarity. Submitted by mb (Dallas, TX) Was This Review Helpful? ten stars Hey! This is NOT a 3-star DVD. It certainly deserves 5-stars. Ritchie Blackmore - at that time - was the best. Clapton, Beck, Page, all the others from that era could not hold a candle to Mr. Blackmore. Sure, the audio and video qualities are not comparable to recent productions, but this concert is nearly 30 years old. What a band. What an incredible guitar hero. I hope Ritchie Blackmore will put together a real rock band again soon. God, He was great. And, that is why this DVD is a must. It’s all about Ritchie, one of the all time rock guitar greats. The DIO Years Don't buy the CD! Buy the DVD and get the best of both worlds. This is the best I've heard RONNIE JAMES DIO sing on any of his live Cd's including BLACK SABBATH LIVE EVIL. But that's only my opinion a must for RAINBOW fans. Submitted by Steve c. (Tuson,AZ.) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
ONE OF THE GREASTEST DVD'S EVER"!!!!!!! THIS IS ONE THE BEST DVD'S I HAVE EVER BOUGHT, IT ROCKS ALL THE WAY THRU, COZY POWELL PLAYS AND LOOKS VICIOUS, AND BLACKMORE/DIO , THEY ARE IN ALEAGUE BY THEMSELVES. Submitted by JAMESULIROTH (COLUMBUS, GA, USA.) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Awesome! This is godsend to any fan of Rainbow or Dio. The quality is outstanding considering its 29 years old. The sound is excellent and Ronnie James never sounded finer. Blackmore is on fire and Cozy Powell hits the drums like they did something to piss him off. The packaging is also top notch as this dvd comes with nice liner notes AND a minature reproduction of the tour program. Very nice indeed. At onlt around 10 bucks here at cduniverse you can't go wrong. Even if your a casual fan or just curious. "Buy Or Die"

Rainbow - Live In Munich 1977 DVD Rainbow was formed by Ritchie Blackmore in 1975 after he left Deep Purple at the height of their fame. They were instantly successful and released a string of hit albums with an ever-changing line up between 1975 and 1983, when Blackmore broke up the group to join the reformed Deep Purple. This concert from their European tour in 1977 features the line up responsible for the LONG LIVE ROCK 'N' ROLL album released later that year, including vocalist Ronnie James Dio and drummer Cozy Powell. Blackmore had to be smuggled out of Austria after trouble with the police at a gig two nights earlier, and was very late arriving in Munich, all of which seemed to inspire both the band and the audience to create a truly remarkable gig.
