Yesterday's Dreams CD
Alphonso Johnson Alphonso Johnson Yesterday's Dreams Songs Yesterday's Dreams Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) King of the "Stick" I used to select albums based on the players listed on the back cover.
This was one of those albums.
Alphonso Johnson, Lee Ritenour, Grover Washington Jr., Ernie Watts, Phil Bailey, Diane Reeves, Shelia Escovedo, Jon Lucian, Ray Gomez, Ian Underwood, Ruth Underwood, Patrice Rushen, Chester Thompson, and more... Do musicians put this type of album together anymore?
This CD has a couple of lighter disco-fusion type of songs - but '76 was the disco era - and if you were a CTI fan, you'll be satisfied.
Pump up the bass and check out Jon Lucien on 'Show us the way'. Things start rockin a little more on tracks 5,6,7.
HeY CDU - How about a copy of Duke's - 'I Love the Blues', 'The Aura Will Prevail', and some of his other Zappa alumus recordings? Submitted by George (Stafford, CT USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 2 found this helpful.

Yesterday's Dreams CD music
$9.65 Stanley Clarke's debut solo effort was issued when he was already a seasoned jazz veteran, and a member of Chick Corea's Return to Forever, which at the time of this recording also included Joe Farrell on soprano sax and flute, and the Brazilian team of vocalist Flora Purim and drummer/percussionist Airto Moreira. Produced by Corea, who plays Rhodes, clavinet, and acoustic piano on Children of Forever, the band included flutist Art Webb, then-new RtF drummer Lenny White, guitarist ...

| | Miles Davis Complete Columbia Recordings CDs (1999) Remastered
Yesterday's Dreams music CDs
$47.69 THE COMPLETE COLUMBIA RECORDINGS contains tracks recorded from October 1955 to March 1961.
THE COMPLETE COLUMBIA RECORDINGS won the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Boxed Recording Package. The set also won the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Album Notes.
This massive set is the first in a series of Columbia boxed collections of the many periods in the career of Miles Davis. It encompasses the first great quintet, which included John Coltrane, Red Garland, Paul Chambers, and Philly Joe Jones, and the subsequent sextet with Cannonball Adderley, Wynton Kelly or Bill Evans, and Jimmy Cobb. Covering what is for some the most fruitful of the Davis eras, it features such classics as "Round Midnight," "Someday My Prince Will Come," "Bye Bye Blackbird," and the entire KIND OF BLUE album.
While many may already own these essential recordings, it's the included extras that make this set so enticing--over the course of the six discs, 18 tracks have never before been issued. Most of these include alternate takes and trial runs ...
| | Lau Nau Kuutarha CD (2005)
Yesterday's Dreams songs
$13.25 This is the debut solo album by Lau Naukkarinen (aka Lau Nau), a young alternative folk singer active on the Finnish abstract folk scene and sharing affinities with the likes of Fürsaxa and the Iditarod. She sings in her native tongue, in a very quiet, unassuming voice that has a certain charm but falls under the generic heading of the genre. Kuutarha contains ten short songs (only one of them crosses the five-minute mark), for a total duration of 41 minutes. Its main point of interest resides in the wide array of instruments used, especially the profusion of guitars and string instruments, from sitar to violin, by way of droning electric guitars. Various flutes are also heard throughout. Nau multi-tracks her voice in some pieces, at times strongly ...
| | Suburban Kids With Biblical Nam #3 CD (2005) Digipak
Yesterday's Dreams album
$11.39 Originally released in 2005 and reissued in '06 on the Minty Fresh label, #3 is actually the first full-length album by the Swedish indie-pop duo Suburban Kids with Biblical Names. (#1 and #2 are EPs.) While the acoustic-guitar-toting Scandinavian pair invites comparisons to Norway's Kings of Convenience, Peter Gunnarson and Johan Hedberg actually hew closer to the eclectic and eccentric sound of fellow Swede Jens Lekman, as revealed on the light, lilting "Funeral Face" and the ridiculously catchy, lo-fi "Rent a Wreck," which features an infectious "ba-ba-ba" chorus.
Like Beck in his '90s prime, Suburban Kids with Biblical Names have no respect for musical boundaries. If they think a mixture of African-styled highlife-guitars, electronic beats, and ukuleles is a good idea for an indie pop song, they won't hesitate to put it on record. The result? Wonderful. #3 includes former EP A-side "Funeral Face," and just listen to the opening of "Peter's Dream": within mere seconds they combine Kraftwerk-styled percussion with a guitar that sounds exactly like Hank Marvin anno 1960, and it could hardly have sounded more right. On "Seems to Be on My Mind," the distorted vocals and shuffly beat almost make them sound classic rock cool, before it breaks into a singalong chorus echoing the kind of pop like they used to make between the world wars. And so it goes on and on, genres and styles meet and ultimately converge through the unusually strong ...
