| | The Best of Aldo Nova CD Aldo Nova Discography of CDs
One of the first practitioners of 1980s pop-metal, Canadian guitarist, songwriter, and singer Aldo Nova eventually got lost in the shadows of big-time acts like Def Leppard and Bon Jovi. One spin through the 15 tracks on BEST OF ALDO NOVA, however, serves to remind '80s hard rock fans that his brand of muscular and highly melodic mainstream metal was plenty catchy and appealing. The set leads off with "Fantasy," Aldo Nova's best-known hit, and continues with "Monkey on Your Back" (the artist's other commercial hit) and an array of hard rockers and soaring power ballads. In a genre bursting with clichés, Aldo Nova's dark, slightly atmospheric rock (his use of synthesizers is distinctive) is still noteworthy.
Spanning his three classic 1980s albums for Portrait, this new compilation by Canadian guitar and keyboard wizard Aldo Nova, the first ever collection of his hits, spotlights his most masterful tracks.

The Best of Aldo Nova album
$18.99 New Wave of British Heavy Metal heavyweights (and mainstream metal failures) Diamond Head were long overdue for a best-of anthology, and chances are Sanctuary's two-disc Am I Evil?: Anthology, although not exactly perfect, is about as good as anyone could have hoped for. Except the unusually poppy single "Sweet and Innocent," all of Diamond Head's first and finest, nameless album (commonly referred to as Lightning to the Nations) and its essential B-sides ("Shoot Out the Lights," "Play It Loud," etc.) are paraded before the court here -- to the continued ...

The Best of Aldo Nova album
$12.19 The Rosebuds' first album, 2003's The Rosebuds Make Out, was a fun album, indie rock at its most lighthearted and breezy. In the time since then, the duo of vocalist/guitarist Ivan Howard and keyboardist/vocalist Kelly Crisp have discovered subtlety and sadness, it seems. The songs are coated with a layer of almost gothic gloom and smeared with glossy acoustic guitars and clichéd arrangements, Howard's vocals (one of the bands' strong points) sound detached and morose for the most part, and the band seem to have sacrificed their freshness and spark for a misguided attempt at emotional heft. On Birds Make Good Neighbors, the unbridled punch of the first album is pretty much gone, as instead the band have opted for a layered and adult sound with loads of the aforementioned ...
