Purchase Best Of CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Tangerine Dream Phaedra CD (1974)
Best Of album
$8.85 The title track is an almost spooky exercise in synth/sequencer tension and dynamics: while eerie atmospheres of Mellotron go head to head with spiraling Moogs, dense, humming sequencer webs percolate along the surface, motile and mobile. The album's closer, "Sequent C," leaves the listener breathless, ...
| | Moby Wait For Me CD (2009)
Best Of CD music
$13.19 Following the decadent, club-style excursions of 2008's HOTEL, Moby returns for a more contemplative sound on the melancholic WAIT FOR ME. Working through deeply personal material and a more intimate, though at times cinematic, sound palette, the album ranks as among his best in over 10 ...

| | Sons Of The Pioneers Rca Country Legends CD (2004)
Best Of album
$10.29 The Sons of the Pioneers recorded for RCA labels from 1944 to the late '60s, a period that came long after the group had waxed the originals of "Cool Water" and "Tumbling Tumbleweeds," and also after the former Leonard Slye (aka Roy Rogers) had moved on to a solo career. Still, the backbone of the group -- vocalists Bob Nolan and Tim Spencer plus the hot fiddle-guitar tandem of Hugh and Karl Farr -- remained intact, and the Pioneers often wrote excellent material. Their volume in the RCA Country Legends series includes only 16 tracks, but it's a perfectly selected compilation, perhaps skimping on the hits but, in the process, taking in all manner of intriguing material. These latter-day versions of "Cool Water" and "Tumbling Tumbleweeds" may not exert the primal force of the originals, but they're equal in quality and, thanks to the Pioneers' long screen time in Westerns during the '40s, just as familiar to listening audiences. Steering away from the obvious hits, the compilation includes the controversial antiwar screed "Old Man Atom," a pair of 1946 instrumentals from the Farr Brothers that illustrate how far the influence of jazzmen Joe Venuti and Eddie Lang permeated, and "Blue Shadows on the Trail," their contribution to Walt Disney's Melody Time (which also reunited them with Rogers). It also finds them easily adjusting to changing times with a pair of late-'40s honky tonk chestnuts ("Grievin' My Heart Out for You" and the slightly outsized "Cigareetes, Whusky and Wild, Wild Women") and a 1952 cover of the early trucker hit "Diesel ...
| | Autodigest Compressed History Of Everything Ever Recorded CD (2004)
Best Of CD music
$13.45 The second volume in Autodigest's A Compressed History of Everything Ever Recorded focuses on live albums. What do live records all have in common? Applause. And so "Ubiquitous Eternal Live" is a 60-minute sound piece consisting of seamlessly mixed audience enthusiasm, nonstop. Imagine a marathon request for an encore after the megastar arena rock band of the day has signed off with a trademark "Thank you! Goodnight!" and walked off-stage. A drone lingers on in the PA system (later joined by water sounds -- are those taken from Yessongs?) as the crowd expresses its admiration and requests one more song. But the band doesn't come back. And the audience just won't quit. If anything, the clapping and cheering get louder. Some chanting is also heard. And after 40 minutes or so, the screaming begins -- not just cheering and whistling, but actual screaming. Things escalate to a point where someone dropping in on you at around the 50-minute mark will think that you are listening to a ritual mass murder, as a crowd of several hundred thousand cheer on at the slaughter of one victim after another. The mood has gradually shifted from jubilation ...
| | Justin Francis Move In Power CD (2006)
Best Of music CDs
$18.99 “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us.” 1 John 3:16 When asked for a verse that could be connected with his music, this was the first verse that came to Justin’s mind. The recognition of there being more to life. A new perspective on the interplay between the eternal and the temporal. As C.S. Lewis said, “Whatever is not eternally useful is eternally useless”It would make sense that someone who is interested in the paradox of the eternal and the temporal would have a paradoxical style as well. Justin weaves together a variety of disparate sources and influences to create a style that is both new and unique but one that is grounded in history and tradition. Justin received his BM in composition from Cal State Fullerton. Starting with the piano, Justin has also been playing many other instruments and singing since the age of 5. He has been in a variety of bands be it worship bands, bands with fellow music majors and the Cal State Fullerton Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band. Each experience and band involvement has played a part in where he is today.Situated in La Mirada CA, Justin is currently leading worship at Granada Heights Friends Church and has recently finished production on his CD, “Move in Power”. Justin describes ...
