This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. Personnel: Stacey Blades, Philip Lewis (vocals, guitar); Steve Riley (vocals, drums); Adam Hamilton (vocals). Audio Mixer: Adam Hamilton. Recording information: Hollywood, CA. Photographers: Brooke McKaig; Jo Ann Pokorny. When all the glam metal bands of the '80s resurfaced once more in the early 21st century, few of those acts were able to boast that all the members from their hitmaking years were present once more. Case in point: L.A. Guns. Singer Philip Lewis and drummer Steve Riley are the only gentlemen remaining from their heady Cocked & Loaded days (as recently added guitarist Stacey Blades and bassist Adam Hamilton are now on board). But the group is still alive and well, as evidenced by the release of 2006's Loud & Dangerous (yes, it appears to be a play on words of Thin Lizzy's classic 1978 live set, Live & Dangerous). Instead of trying to prove to audiences that "if you like the old tunes, then you'll love the new tunes," Lewis, Riley and company wisely stick to the L.A. Guns classics -- especially such one-time Headbanger's Ball favorites "Sex Action" and "One More Reason." And of course, the group's biggest hit, the schmaltzy power ballad "Ballad of Jayne" is included as well. While Loud & Dangerous probably isn't as potent as catching L.A. Guns in a jam-packed Hollywood club back in 1988 (when founding member Tracii Guns was still in attendance), it should please the hairspray-and-headband-wearing faithful. [This edition includes two audio/video bonus tracks, "Hollywood Burning" and "It Don't Mean Nothing," which can be downloaded from the CD if you "insert CD into your computer."] ~ Greg Prato Loud & Dangerous - Live From Hollywood Music Loud & Dangerous - Live From Hollywood Music Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) no bad, not great This CD got so much hype for being so awesome, and honestly it's only okay. i give it up that Stacey Blades is a great player and he and Adam did a fine fine fine job of replacing the replacments but you can tell that overdubs have been added (like the second guitar on songs that Phil doesn't play on). and the fact that they edited the "F" words out of "nothing better to do" is just stupid, leave the song alone or leave it off the album. it's a standard live album, but I personally think that "a night on the strip" was better - it had its faults too but sounded less "produced" Submitted by kevin (Beloit, WI, USA) Was This Review Helpful? not bad This live release with Blades on guitar isn't bad but it could have been better. Two of the best live tracks from the show were left off the main part of the cd and are only available for listening/viewing if you play the cd on your computer. The bonus tracks are cool but I think this release would have much better served if these two tracks (Hollywoods Burning and It Don't Mean Nothing) were actually on the cd as a part of the show rather than being used as computer bonus tracks. I love the old L.A. Guns but the new Guns have some very strong material and I would have liked to have heard more of it here. As for Hamilton and especially Blades, I think they have given this band new life in my opnion. However, one of them (I think it's Blades but I'm not sure) f'd up Nothing Better To Do big time on this cd. I know that sometimes rock n' roll sounds better when it's a little sloppy but that song sounded like it wasn't even rehearsed or someone just didn't give a damn. Like I said before, this could have been better. Also, I could be wrong here (I'm not) but in between tracks it sounds like the band mixed in loops of crowd noise. Amazing Live CD!!! LA Guns remains one of the best and most underrated bands to come out of LA in the 80s. They are really at the top of their game with this amazing CD. It is incredible how they actually got better after Tracii Guns' departure. Submitted by Mike (Pearl River, NY, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
