Personnel: Paul Gilbert (acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar); Paul Gilbert (electric bass); Emi Gilbert (piano); Mike Szuter (electric bass); Jeff Bowders (drums). Audio Mixer: Tom Size. Recording information: Ocean Way Studios; Quebec Sound. Photographer: Paul Gilbert. Although he's been considered one of the top hard rock/heavy metal guitar shredders since the late '80s, interestingly enough, Paul Gilbert has never issued a completely all-instrumental solo album. And with Gilbert seemingly going in a more songwriting-based direction (as evidenced by his 2005 solo set, Spaceship One), the chances of an all-instrumental release seemed increasingly slim. But as longtime admirers of Gilbert know, it's impossible to predict the next move of this former Racer X and Mr. Big guitarist, and on 2006's Get Out of My Yard, you're treated to -- Gilbert's first-ever instrumental solo set. But the tracks are not merely shredding solos strung together -- Gilbert is still all about penning memorable tunes, such as the Rush-like "Hurry Up," the blues-metal of "The Curse of Castle Dragon," the Van Halen-esque rocker, "My Teeth Are a Drumset," and the speedy acoustic picking of "Three E's for Edward." There's a reason why Gilbert is a monthly attraction in all of those European and Japanese guitar publications -- Get Out of My Yard will offer all the evidence you'll need. ~ Greg Prato Paul Gilbert Get Out Of My Yard Songs | 1. | Get Out of My Yard |

| Get Out Of My Yard Music Review Average Rating: (4.6 out of 5 stars) Amazing Solo Album Before this album I never really cared for solo guitarists and their solo albums. I thought all they did was play as fast as possible and brag about their "amazing skills".
Mr. Gilbert is different. He created a totally unique and amazing solo album. It all starts with the insane and shred-happy self titled track. His speed and innovation shine in this track, nailing unbelieveable appregios and screaming into the pickups of his axe.
After that, Hurry Up, a nice, mellow rocker follows suit. Another landmark track, The Curse of the Castle Dragon, will set your speakers on fire. Paul is simply relentless, hammering, bending, and shredding in the fast rocker.
Other significant tracks are Rusty Old Boat, a bluesy keyboard intertwined guitar jam, and Hydon Symphony No. 88 Finale, which boasts Mr. Gilberts incredible versatility in any field of music and showing his classical roots.
Overall, this is a simply epic solo album which shows Mr. Gilbert's musical genius. This album flows from rock and blues heavy jams to emotional acoustic guitar playing and everything in between. I'd highly reccomend it, even to people who don't care for guitar heavy songs. Every song is amazing.

Mr. Versatility is still the best! Paul Gilbert is the most versatile guitarist ever. This album continues to illustrate Paul's ability to play in any style. He is unique. The innovator of shred, alternate picking, etc. You never know what to expect from Gilbert...you know it's going to be brilliant!
I highly recommend this album. Submitted by mwworkman (Indiana) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
absolutely amazing i think paul is totally unique, 'Get Out Of My Yard' is a very complete album.. very musical and slightly progressive (which i highly enjoy).. the songs are clear, first time listeners can truly understand his work from this album, brilliant ensemble playing of Mike and Jeff.. Emi displays a potent skill in one of my favs 'Marine Layer', and Paul shines greatly within the confines of this circle. lookin forward to more intense, mind-melting solos. Really, the title says it all -- Decksanddrumsandrockandroll is about as close to rock & roll as big-beat techno is going to get. Taking their cue from the Chemical Brothers, the Bath-based duo Propellerheads offer a set of pummeling, ultra-loud beats that may dabble in funk, house, hip-hop, soul, and rap, but which all come out sounding as aggressive as rock. Not that there's anything wrong with that -- at its best, big beat is as invigorating as any other music -- but Propellerheads don't have the finesse, innovation, or style of the Chemical Brothers, the leading proponents of big beat. When they shake the beat up, whether on the wah-wah-drenched "Velvet Pants" or the pair of John Barry/James Bond tributes (a reworking of their cover of "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" and "History Repeating"), it sounds like a tactical move, since they know they can't spend the entire album on thundering dance cuts like "Bang On!" and "Take California." That said, Decksanddrumsandrockandroll remains a strong big beat album, even if it ultimately doesn't reveal anything new, because the duo knows how to craft a hard-hitting, infectious rhythm track. And while that doesn't make them the next Chemical Brothers, it does make them the best in this style since the Chemicals. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine Propellerheads' ...
