| | Seether Disclaimer II CD (2002) Bonus DVD; Deluxe Edition
One Cold Night CD music
$8.99 A cursory listen to DISCLAIMER reveals a debt to such U.S. heavy rock bands as Papa Roach and Drowning Pool, no great shock since Seether producer Jay Baumgardner had previously worked with both of those bands. The surprising part is that this very American-sounding nu-metal band actually comes from South Africa. Their homeland is where the Dave Matthews Band comparisons abruptly end, though. Seether goes for the time-tested power-trio format that's served hard-hitting rock bands in good stead throughout the decades, from Mountain to Nirvana. Singer, songwriter, and guitarist Shaun Morgan is at the heart of the group's sound, his angst-ridden lyrics and emotive delivery occasionally suggesting the influence of the aforementioned Kurt Cobain-fronted band. Grunge flavoring to the contrary, though, this is a solidly contemporary band whose sheer sonic force puts them directly in the forefront of circa-2002 heavy rock.

| | Rush Show Of Hands CD (1989) Remastered
One Cold Night album
$12.59 Continuing a tradition that began more than a decade earlier, Rush follows its 12th (!) studio album with a live one, A SHOW OF HANDS. The album draws almost exclusively from the third chapter of Rush's life, 1982-89, stressing the notion that their newer material was just as important as their classics. By this time they had eschewed the typical guitar trio sound for one that emphasized layers and texture. ...

One Cold Night album
$15.19 In 1994 four guys driven by anger, booze, women, and drugs formed a band they called Searching For Wendy. The name was derived from Peter Pan. Wendy is the women that kept all the children young...forever. This band rocked Toronto, but only for a short period of time. The bass player (Johnny) did not like Kevin (the vocalist) because Kevin would not explain to John what the songs were about. 13 years later, Johnny finally got what Kevin was talking about by listing to the words and felt the album should be published. The album was recorded in one night in a room that had 4 microphones hanging from the ceiling onto a 4 track. The mains song writers Kevin and Mark mixed this as best they could. Dirge was written by Calvin (the drummer) and ...
