Considered one of the most frightening made-for-TV movies of the decade, this film has never been released before. While writing a book about supernatural phenomena, an investigative reporter named David Norliss mysteriously vanishes, leaving behind as the only clue a set of cassette tapes outlining one disturbing finding after another. Pilot Movie for what became Kolchak the Night Stalker Just a few years before Kolchak came the Norliss Taes. A writer experiences the supernatural in a very good TV Movie with Angie Dickinson. A must have for Kolchak fans.
Roy Thinnes is excellent as Norliss.
Buy this and enjoy a good TV film.
Hopefully Roy's series the Invaders will come out soon. A great series. Submitted by Vince (Tampa) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
A good ol' throwback I remember well the ABC Tuesday Night movies, as well as "Night Gallery" and "Ghost Story." To me, this was scarier than the new stuff put out today. Cheesy, yes, but creepy enough to be effective. This movie ranks with the best of them, right up there with "The Night Stalker." Movies today like "Scream" and "I Know What You Did Last Summer" don't compare. The "Norliss Tapes" touches those nerves we all had as kids regarding vampires, windy nights and dark, curious cabins in the woods. Submitted by Rich (Avon, NJ, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
One of the better '70's horror movies While trying to follow up to the immensely popular Kolchak-Night Stalker series,Dan Curtis tried the same formula of a reporter doing research on the paranormal.Roy Thinnes stars as David Norliss, skeptic turned believer, whose sole purpose was to debunk the supernatural only to find himself drawn into a nightmare world of voodoo and zombies.Great special effects and decent acting overall w/Dan Curtis' Dark Shadow type music! | | Billy Joe Shaver Everybody's Brother CD (2007)
Norliss Tapes video
$13.75 Personnel: Jamie Hartford, Pat McLaughlin, Randy Scruggs (acoustic guitar); Eddy Shaver (electric guitar); Laura Cash (fiddle); Paco Shipp (harmonica); Tony Harrell (accordion); Dave Roe (electric bass); Dave Pomeroy (bass guitar); Freddy Joe Fletcher, Kenny Malone, Rick Lonow (drums); The Whole Gang (percussion); Etta Britt (background vocals). Additional personnel: John Anderson, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Tanya Tucker, Bill Miller (vocals); Marty Stuart (electric guitar). A Billy Joe Shaver album is always cause for celebration, but on this 2007, Grammy-nominated release, the outlaw country troubadour shines in a whole new way. Produced by John Carter Cash, the album features all country-gospel originals, half of them sung in duet with a laundry list of country greats, including the late Johnny Cash, old partner in crime Kris Kristofferson, and Tanya Tucker. Although the Christian-themed lyrics are utterly sincere, fans needn't worry that Shaver has gone soft on them. The music crackles with country-rocking, honky-tonking fire. Billy Joe Shaver is one of the finest songwriters country music has produced in the past 50 years, a poet of the honky tonk who can write about wild nights and the troubled morning after with equal eloquence. Shaver is also a devout Christian whose faith has guided him through more than his share of hard times -- including the death of his wife, mother, and son within the space of 18 months -- and if you find that at all off-putting, you won't be especially comfortable ...

$10.15 Hong Kong writer-director Matt Chow fashions a charmingly goofy tale of unexpected love between two oddball outsiders in his frothy romantic comedy THE ATTRACTIVE ONE.
