Although punk-pop bands proliferated throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, the genre wasn't exactly growing by leaps and bounds artistically. In fact, it seemed increasingly packed with derivative hacks, confessional emo boys, and tongue-in-cheek winkers. Over It is the welcome exception to this rule, and 2006's STEP OUTSIDE YOURSELF, the band's major label debut, is the culmination of the sound the band has been refining over seven albums. Tight musicianship, hooky, melodic songwriting, and a sense of variety (there are strong acoustic and midtempo numbers) all come across powerfully. But what really strikes the ear is the band's assured delivery and lack of posture. Over It doesn't worry about fitting the punk-pop mold; instead they just make honest, well-crafted rock.
Over It: Ryan Ogren, Peter Munters (vocals, guitar); Nick Bailey (guitar); Seth Watts (bass guitar); James Ulrich (drums, percussion).

Working hard to earn that buck? This sounds more like an alternative pop/rock band. Mainstream yearning type of punk. Not straying away from emo, though. What the heck?! F+ck wit it, hallelujah! Where the heck have you been all my life? Bring on the competition! Bring it on! Submitted by Hmmm ... (Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Another great release from talent musicians Honestly, I didn't have high expectations for this release, b/c it was only been a year or so since "Silverstrand". I was truely impressed though. Sounds like they worked more on there musicianship this time around, and petes vocals are as brillant as ever. There creative is on par from there prior album. Overall an excellent listen. Favorite Tracks: "Think Against The Grain"(Melodic Riffs, Drumming really kicks, James is very talented)"Siren On The 101", "Too Much Information"(Spectator Solo!) I'm Out. Step Outside Yourself album
$8.69 Covenant started to bring Morbid Angel up out of the underground, as MTV gave them wider exposure on its late Headbanger's Ball. Guitarist Trey Azagthoth plays complicated, heavily detuned riffs, some with a lightning-fast picking style and others in a slower groove. Drummer Pete Sandoval is one of the genre's fastest, and his jackhammer style helps complete ...

| | Rod Argent Ring Of Hands CD (1971)
Step Outside Yourself music CDs
$10.69 Ring of Hands is, more often than not, overshadowed by the albums that surrounded it. Argent's debut included Russ Ballard's "Liar," and 1972's All Together Now was the album that yielded their Top Five hit "Hold Your Head Up," while 1973's In Deep produced "God Gave Rock 'N' Roll to You," which became a bigger hit for Kiss in 1992. But Ring of Hands is one of Argent's most progressively oriented albums, with most of its energy and dynamics coming from Rod Argent's keyboard playing. This album shines the spotlight a little brighter on Rod Argent than on Ballard, and its weight lies more on the band's ability to produce some impressive progressive rock than to create lyrically based rock & roll. Argent himself is spectacular throughout most of the album, lending his lone, rich keyboard solos to tracks like "Lothlorien," "Cast Your Spell Uranus," and "Sleep Won't ...

| | Neil Diamond Live In America CDs (1995)
Step Outside Yourself album
$16.09 Neil Diamond's career underwent something of a resurgence in the 1990s, with his particular brand of flamboyant pop being ironically appreciated by a new, younger generation of fans. Recorded at various venues throughout the U.S. between 1991 and 1993, this double-CD set features three decades of hits, from the 1960s' "Cherry Cherry" "Sweet Caroline," and "I'm a Believer," to the 1980s' "Hooked on the Memory of You," ending with a climactic "Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show." Backed by a fine, rocking band that includes Elvis Presley's ex-drummer Ron Tutt, Diamond gives his uniformly enthusiastic audiences a series of dynamic, sparkling performances that entertainers half his age would find hard to better.
Recorded live in 1992-93.
Personnel: Neil Diamond (vocals, guitar, acoustic guitar); Linda Press (vocals, background vocals); Craig Copeland, Joseph Powell, Julia Waters, Maxine Willard Waters, ...

Step Outside Yourself music CDs
$15.85 JOAN OF ARC was originally recorded in 1968 as a soundtrack to the film of the same name.
Tony Conrad's incalculable influence on popular music began quietly in the avant-garde underground of early-1960s New York when he fostered both John Cale's and Lou Reed's interest in droning, the redefinition of tone intervals, and the exploration of the silent spaces between notes. Reed and Cale of course started the Velvet Underground, ...
