2007 compilation from this fast and heavy Garage/Hard Rock band from Sweden. Features 22 heavy riffin' classics including '(Gotta Get Some Action) Now!', 'Born Broke', 'Move Right Out Of Here' 'The Devil Stole The Beat From The Lord' and many more. Universal. Air Raid Serenades Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) What?!?!? Another Hellacopters Comp!?!?! Yes, another Hellacopters compilation... as if the "Cream Of The Crap" collections weren't enough. Hell, I don't care! I can't give this anything less than five stars. The Hellacopters are one of the finest bands around, which you already know. They just keep progressing as musicians and writers and deliver a fresh offering with each release. You can totally hear this on the chronological running order of "Air Raid Serenades". Plus, the Dirty Donny cover is just fantastic! My only complaint is the exclusion of several of my personal faves, such as "Hey!", "Go Easy Now", and "I might Come See You Tonight", but only "Hey" was an actual single. No biggie!!! There isn't anything new to offer the diehard fan, except a bonus video of "Bring I On Home". The band themselves didn't want to trap their fans into buying another comp just for an extra unreleased song or two. Which is cool, but you know we are all going to buy it anyways. Too bad Universal didn't release a companion DVD with all of The Hellacopters videos to coincide with the arrival "Air Raid Serenades". Now that would be a nice bonus for the fans... Air Raid Serenades CD music
$10.59 Arguably, pop-metal is a form of power pop, or, at the very least, the two have some things in common. Like the Raspberries, the Go-Go's, or Blondie, a pop-metal act will typically blend rockin', guitar-powered aggression with pop sensibilities. Cheap Trick and Sweet, in fact, are perfect examples of bands that are relevant to both pop-metal and power pop. So it seemed logical when Starz provided a big dose of outright power pop on its third album, Attention Shoppers!. The band didn't eliminate the pop-metal factor on this 1978 LP; "X-Ray Spex" and "Good Ale We Seek," for example, are the type of pop-minded hard rock items that one expected from Starz. But tunes like "I'll Be There," "She" (not to be confused with the Kiss favorite), ...

Air Raid Serenades CD music
$10.59 Oregon is the first album from 22-year-old roots singer-songwriter-guitarist Jon Itkin. A West Coast transplant from Rochester, New York, Itkin found Oregon's landscape to be a perfect stage for his dusty story-songs and barroom lullabies. Enthralled by his dad's record collection as a middle school latchkey hid, Itkin grew into a deep appreciation for classic folk, country, blues soul and rock 'n roll music. At 13 he picked up a guitar and a harmonica rack and started teaching himself Bob Dylan and "Nirvana Unpugged" songs. Nearly ten year later, he is a seasoned ...
| | Nanny Assis Double Rainbow CD (2006)
Air Raid Serenades music CDs
$12.59 Nanny Assis has been an in-demand session drummer and percussionist for years, but Double Rainbow is his debut recording as a solo artist. It reveals him to be a very fine arranger and bandleader and a pretty good vocalist -- though one who is more convincing at faster tempos than at slow ones, and more effective in Portuguese than in English. The album opens on a slightly unfortunate note, with a weak rendition of Antonio Carlos Jobim's "Double Rainbow" that Assis sings in English; the lyrics themselves don't do particularly well in translation, and Assis' voice is strangely watery and flaccid. But things get much better immediately thereafter, and they stay better throughout the rest of the album: the intoxicating rhythm and lively flute part on "A Ra," the gorgeously arranged and sparklingly upbeat "Mas Que Nada" (a Jorge Ben composition), and the delightfully light "Brasileirinho" are all highlight tracks, but there are many small yet brilliant gems of musical achievement scattered throughout all of the songs. The tightly arranged backing vocals on "Melhor Refrao," the drum parts on "Magalenha," the flute that recurs like an idée fixe from time to time throughout the program -- these are all hallmarks of an artist who has learned an awful lot about arranging over the course of his career. And when he reprises the title track at the very end of the album, he sings it in Portuguese -- and nails it. Highly recommended. ~ Rick Anderson
