Patrick Bateman, a young, well to do man working on wall street at his father's company kills for no reason at all, collects body parts and displays them in his home. American Psycho video As his life progresses his hatred for the world becomes more and more intense. American Psycho film Based Bret Ellis' graphically violent novel as a 1980s satire. American Psycho review Cast: Christian Bale, Reese Witherspoon, Willem Dafoe.
A cunning indictment of the materialism of the 1980s, AMERICAN PSYCHO is Mary Harron's (I SHOT ANDY WARHOL) and Guinevere Turner's (GO FISH) deft interpretation of the dark and violent Brett Easton Ellis novel of the same name. American Psycho BRAY Christian Bale (VELVET GOLDMINE) plays Patrick Bateman, the personification of the "me" culture of Ronald Reagan's 1980s. Imprisoned in an inane corporate existence fueled by status symbols, small talk, and gossip, Bateman begins a bloody reign of terror on nearly all that cross his path. The film's gray and navy mise-en-scene is filled with chilly, vacant streets, hard-edged skyscrapers and cold interiors flecked with the latest technological gadgets and designer flourishes. ...See Full Description

Terrific American Psycho movie This film will keep you going with it's dark, dark humor. Christian Bale's performance is absolutely stunning! He does a great job at being that "collected" psychopath that is the vein Patrick Bateman. Highly reccommended. By Lux (Glendale, AZ)
Worth every penny I loved Bateman's spot on analogy of Phil Collins and Genesis, Huey Lewis and Whitney while entertaining at his apartment. Superlative casting and directing along with the spontaneous chemistry that every great film needs to have. "Peanut butter soup with smoked duck and mashed squash"? You gotta be kidding. Van Patten thought that Ed gein was some other inverstment banker dude. This is a comedy film. I almost thought Dafoe was going to pull off a Colombo at first. And the scene when his receptionist calmly looks through his deranged pornographic sketches in his appointment book. I could go on and on. Has a bit of a Stanley Kubrick vibe at times. Reminded me a little of Clockwork Orange at times. By Dean Dillweed (Los Angeles, CA)
Brilliant It comes across as a horror movie, but the bloodletting takes a backseat to the dark humor and scathing look at the consumerism of the 1980s. In reality, much of the same exists today and I would suggest members of my church watch it. Christian Bale is excellent as Patrick Bateman--or is he--and freaking out over the color and type on business cards, refusing to go to a restaurant without a reservation, brooding over the fact that someone has a better apartment than he does, or making love to himself in the mirror rather than to the prositutes that he is with. This movie blew me away. By tintin84105 (Woods Cross, UT, USA) This review is for a different format.
A very inpressive thriller. Not a bad movie at all, very harsh, It has a very great plot and great actors. I highly reccommend. By burninhell95 (Sydney, Australia) This review is for a different format.
| Impressive I watched this film when I was younger and my father told me to leave when the three sum came. Ever since then I've been meaning to watch it. One night I finally did, and I was absolutely blown away. Christian Bale gives a grade-A performance as usual. This guy really does make strange choices. Choices that really seem to challenge him. What makes him such a great actor is his persistence to choose strange and challenging roles. He's mesmerizing to watch. And he pulls something off that usually would seem difficult, he makes the character somewhat likeable despite the killing. The filmmakers themselves really captured an eerie vibe in the way they shot it. And I found this to be one of the most unsettling films that I have ever watched. The ending was terrific. Left extremely open. I've read other reviews from critics, saying what was the point in making this but the people who made this were really making a statement.
