(17 Customer Reviews)
Mere months after its 2006 debut EP, THERE'S NO SYMPATHY FOR THE DEAD, Escape the Fate unveiled its first full-length album, DYING IS YOUR LATEST FASHION. Mixing melodic goth-tinged punk-pop with bursts of "screamo" dissonance, the Las Vegas-based ensemble, led by vocalist Ronnie Radke, makes up for what it lacks in originality with unrestrained energy, as exemplified by fast-paced, wire-tight "Situations" and the morbid, New Wave-influenced "My Apocalypse."

Amazing The first song I heard from these was 'Not Good Enough...', and I thought it was a really good song.
But then when I heard their other songs, they blew me away. Two songs especially were "Friends and Alibis" and also "There's No Sympathy For The Dead". Both songs have the kinda lyrics that are just so catchy and fit well with the music. Another song to give a listen to a few times is 'The Guillotine'; it shows a slightly more heavier side to the band.
5* CD for me. Buy it now! Submitted by stemov (Birkenhead, Liverpool, ENG) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Dying Is Your Latest Fashion album
$12.49 Moving away somewhat from the post-hardcore formula that characterized the band's first two albums, Funeral for a Friend's 2007 release, TALES DON'T TELL THEMSELVES, edges closer to traditional rock territory. The emo-tinged themes are still in place, however, as are a bevy of slicing guitar riffs and pummeling thunder from the rhythm section, but the Welsh quintet are clearly re-defining themselves here. Still, even though these young rockers occasionally trade screamo for orchestration (there are string sections on tunes like "Raise the Sail" ...
| | Escape The Fate This Wars Is Ours CD (2008)
Dying Is Your Latest Fashion CD music
$14.29 Escape the Fate went through a lot in 2008, not the least of which was the incarceration of singer Ron Radke. Now re-loaded with Blessthefall vocalist Craig Mabbitt, the band has struck back with the dynamic THIS WAR IS OURS. Neither a raging storm of hardcore screams nor a wounded, emotional mess, the album focuses on Escape the Fate's strengths. The opener, "We Won't ...

Dying Is Your Latest Fashion music CDs
$10.85 Another erratic if basically worthwhile collection of Northwest '60s rock. There are a couple of hits (Paul Revere's "Kicks," Ian Whitcomb's "You Turn Me On"), but the rest is given over to obscurities by the likes of Don & the Goodtimes, the Bards, the Kingsmen, and the Springfield Rifle, as well as little-known tracks by ...

Dying Is Your Latest Fashion music CDs
$13.59 This ambitious project, featuring members of Godspeed You Black Emperor!, is the brainchild of lead vocalist and songwriter Scott Chernoff. After an eerie windswept instrumental opening in "Desole," "Valley Song" is a lovable acoustic ballad that immediately brings to mind Roger Waters singing on Pink Floyd's The Final Cut. Accompanied by violins and various strings, the sparse arrangements are gorgeous almost to a fault. Interspersed throughout the album are brief but alluring instrumentals, including "Dans une Maison Croulante" and the swampy bayou sound of "Whitman County Revisited." A folk structure blends effortlessly with a larger orchestral sound on "Insomnia," but the song seems underdeveloped. Some moments are simply spine-tingling, with "Whitey Blues" inviting the listener in via cello, viola, and a series of guitars played with precision. With a Daniel Lanois production quality, it's best heard with either Surround Sound or headphones. Chernoff thrives on topics such as isolation, despair, and hopelessness. Yet musically, there is a great amount of hope communicated. "Death March (Erskine's Theme)" is such an example, ...

Dying Is Your Latest Fashion songs
$9.59 With Ryan Dusick on percussion, Jesse Carmichael on guitar and vocals, Mickey Madden on bass, and Adam Levine on guitar and lead vocals, L.A.-based Kara's Flowers delivers a debut that's a fine example of alternative rock in the late '90s. With Levine's sexy, expressive voice, tight productions, and strong songwriting, the band steers clear of the angst ...
