The New York City based band originally formed as a quartet in 1999, spent a short stint as a trio before it’s final incarnation as a power quartet. Daphne lists Guns N’ Roses, Janes Addiction, The Who and Jimi Hendrix as major influences on their music. It’s their love of music that drives the band. The band finds inspiration for their music in many areas. Their songs touch on themes of life, love, and relationships. How they found one another…It was an ad that Tim placed in the Village Voice that led him to Scott. Jon who moved from Vegas to NYC in 2003, met Scott at a show and soon joined the band. Jon described his latest band to an old friend from Chicago, Ryan, who then moved to New York City to be part of the Daphne experience. The origin of the band’s name comes from Daphne, the attractive and clever detective from the Scooby Doo series.While Daphne enjoyed their time in a Long Island studio recording this album (and their extracurricular activities of golf and wiffle ball during breaks), it’s playing live that really excites them. Infectious is one word to describe the Daphne live experience. The band creates and cultivates a connection with the audience that they use to produce an unmistakable energy and excitement. During the show, they bring the audience on a wild rollercoaster of emotions from the up-tempo hard rock song “Sin” to the harmonizing soft song “Astoria” and back to rocking us with “Crush”New Yorkers may already know Daphne from when they won K Rock’s BATTLE OF THE BANDS in 1999. They beat out over 500 other bands for the honor. They’ve also been chosen as a Budweiser True Music Band, which has garnered them airplay, as well as numerous ad spots on the radio. Since then their song “Crush” has received airplay on K Rock as well as Q104.3. Their music has also been featured on FOX TV’s THE FAMILY GUY.Tim is a self-taught musician, who after his 16th birthday realized he wouldn’t be the next Mickey Mantle, and focused his energy on writing music. Scott gave up his calling as a vet and found his passion in playing drums when he was nine years old. As early as he can remember, Ryan wanted to follow in the footsteps of Jimi Hendrix. Jon would listen to Paul McCartney play bass and dream of the day he could play bass for a living.The band is in complete agreement when it comes to the power of music. Tim, who wrote all the lyrics on the album, says “I believe music can be so important on many levels. The most important aspect in my mind is that it can alter your mood. Rush is no stranger to best-of compilation albums, they've released a slew of them. They are also no stranger to DVDs. To mark their 35th anniversary, they've released Working Men, which is both; it marks their first best-of live compilation exclusively from the DVD sets Rush in Rio (2003), R30 (2005), and Snakes & Arrows Live (2008). There is also an unreleased cut from R30 -- a killer version of One Little Victory. While fans may simply regard this as a record company cash grab, hardcore fans know how closely Rush monitors each release and controls all aspects of their career. Born and raised in rural Tennessee, my family were all quite musically gifted, though none had ever sought fame and fortune. My beloved father, Jim McGrath, was a football coach, teacher, and basically a natural at anything he pursued.
