| | Eddie Seymour CD Eddie Seymour Discography of CDs
Eddie Seymour is a name that has been spoken with respect among club owners, engineers and studio musicians in the Columbus, Ohio area since 1990. His band, The Tone Farmers, tore up the club circuit to rave reviews. Now disbanded, Eddie has moved to the east coast of Florida where he writes and looks to put together another group of serious musicians to work with. The interest in his work is stimulated by two powerful factors. The first is his virtuosity as a musician: he writes his own songs, plays guitar and keyboards, and sings with equal ability. During one gig, one guitarist after another came up asking to be shown a certain lick during the breaks. All night long you'd hear, "How do you do that?", or "I've never seen anyone play that song like that before." His songs share a rare versatility and vision. While known primarily for his blues style, he has penned songs that run the gamut of musical genres.Eddie came by his interest in music naturally. His father, Ed "Sonny" Seymour, was a jazz guitarist who played with bands in Ohio and in Florida, most notably at the Fountainbleu Hotel on Miami Beach. Ed's family (five siblings) became accustomed to packing at a moment's notice and moving in pursuit of work. The tough times the family faced, coupled with the love and the music that kept the family intact, became fertile ground for Eddie and his work.Eddie's high school music teacher encouraged Ed to apply for a scholarship to Julliard. Being a product of the times, Ed shunned the conventional path and hit the road. While this decision may have cost him a place in the musical establishment, it gave him an opportunity to experience life from hardship and personal tragedy, to love and its ability to heal. His greatest joy comes from communicating those emotions that infuse each and every one of his songs. Some 30 years after cutting BLUESBREAKERS with John Mayall, Slowhand is back--and he's plugged in, too. From the Elmore James-styled slide grunge that heralds Leroy Carr's classic "Blues Before Sunrise," to his sweet, pearly tones on an agonizingly slow "Third Degree," it's clear that FROM THE CRADLE really is your parents' Eric Clapton.
