| | Old Masters Revisited, Vol. 1 CD Prodigal Son CDS
Prodigal Son has been a producer for over eight years. His journey started in the advertising industry producing radio and TV commercials. He went on to produce hip hop music which over time evolved across all the musical genres. Today Prodigal Son resides in Belize where he has just completed his album titled " Old Masters Revisited Vol. 1" which features original music compositions form old masters such as Mozart, Debussy, Beethoven and Bach just to name a few. His prospective on old masters works are interesting not only for it's contemporary vision but also for his unique rearrangements of old Masters compositions, at the same time, respecting the standing integrity which the old classical masters always represented. Prodigal Son is a student of the classics and his arrangements have made a stir through out the classical world. "Old Masters Revisited Vol.1" released on the 1 st June of this year has contemporary composers eagerly awaiting this artist's next presentation. | | Mercymachine Devil I Know CD (2005)
Old Masters Revisited, Vol. 1
$8.69 Mercymachine's fourth recording is quieter and more introspective than previous efforts, the instrumentation stripped down to a Telecaster, two cellos, double bass, piano, and vocals. "The Devil I Know" is about sin and redemption, but mainly sin...the spirit of the project was inspired by a profligate priest, a man prone to fistfights and heavy drinking. May god have mercy on his beautiful soul. Jazno Francoeur mans the helm on vocals and guitar, Paul Fluery and Dan Cermeno once again lend their trademark strings, India Turner contributes additional guitar, and pianists John Wagner and Ed Krout round out the ensemble. "The Devil I Know" was produced in Orlando by Jazno and John Wagner. John also engineered and mixed the project at Here Kitty Kitty Studios; additional songs were engineered and mixed by Mark Mason at Phat Planet Studios, then mastered by Grammy-award winner Bob Katz at Digital Domain. Mercymachine formed in 1994 then released their debut album in 1997. Their sophomore effort, "In Your Bed," was released in 2002, and then remixed by a handful ...

Old Masters Revisited, Vol. 1
$11.39 Ballad and Dance Variations (2004) - Sy Brandon -This composition was composed for Paul Compton and the Oklahoma State University Wind Ensemble. The trombone and piano version is heard on this recording. The Ballad is lyrical with long lines, rich harmonies, and the trombone part uses the high tessitura frequently. It is rhapsodic in form and has a trombone cadenza towards the end. Three variations follow that are based on motivic ideas from the Ballad. Paul Compton is Assistant Professor of Trombone at Oklahoma State University, an Edwards Performing Artist and is a member of the North Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Zarina Melik-Stepanova is Assistant Professor of Piano at Oklahoma State University. Ninth Avenue Hustle (2004) - Martin Rokeach - Composed at the request of bass trombonist David Ridge, Ninth Avenue Hustle was written in two versions, one with orchestra, one with piano. It is a celebratory one-movement piece that, hopefully, evokes the stimulation, energy and drama of living in a big city. All the material comes from the “big†chord and opening theme in the first few measures. The piece is dedicated, with affection and gratitude, to David Ridge and Lino Rivera. David Ridge holds the position of Principal Bass Trombone with the San Francisco Opera Orchestra. He is a faculty member at California State University, East Bay and Saint Mary’s College of California. Pianist Lino Rivera has performed as soloist and accompanist throughout the United States and Europe. He teaches at Saint Mary’s College of California.Sonata for Trombone and Piano (1970) - Sy Brandon - This three movement sonata for trombone or euphonium is filled with lyricism and jazz harmonies. The opening movement is a moderato in sonata form followed by a slow second movement that varies a two part theme. The last movement is more angular and agitated. Peter Howell was a finalist at the ...
