| | Katie Locke Works For Me CD Katie Locke Discography of CDs
Katie Locke, a native of Bradenton, Florida, began her singing career at the ripe age of four. After being announced by her grandmother to an imaginary crowd, she would glide across the carpet singing her best vibrato-infused version of Barbara Streisand's "Memories" on an old hairbrush. This early experience helped her land major roles in seven Youth Opera productions over the years, as well as the coveted role of Annie in "Annie" at the Sarasota Players. Katie gained valuable experience in high school performing with both the SATB All-State Chorus and the All-State Sight-Reading Chorus on several occasions. She was also the recipient of the Sarasota Jazz Club Scholarship and the Jim Forsell Music Scholarship. An avid classical pianist, she spent her free time volunteering at the local Boys and Girls Club as part of its "Keyboards for Kids" program, and was voted "Best Musician" by her senior class. Upon entering Berklee College of Music in 2002, Katie quickly became one of the school's most in-demand back-up singers, performing in multiple venues at the Berklee Performance Center, the Middle East, the Hard Rock Cafe, Harper's Ferry, T.T. the Bear's, the Attic, and the All Asia. She has shared the stage with renowned artists such as Livingston Taylor and Susan Tedeschi, and in March of 2004 was given the exciting opportunity to tour New England with Grammy-nominated artist Patti Austin. As a lead singer, her credits include having performed in Berklee's esteemed "Singer's Showcase," "Songwriter's Showcase," and the Tower of Power Ensemble, and with accomplished wedding band Airtight. In 2004 and 2005, the college recognized her efforts with two Voice Department Achievement awards. Perhaps Katie's greatest opportunity came in May of 2006, when she was asked to sing "Come to my Window" to Melissa Etheridge as part of Berklee's Commencement Concert. The Katie Locke Band first came to be in August of 2005, when Katie was asked to fill in for a friend of hers at T.T. the Bear's Place. She quickly called up her boyfriend, exceptional bassist Bryan Ladd, her best friend and sax extraordinaire Dan Perez, and student engineer Jack Pelletier whom she had found could play a mean guitar. Matt Pryor was a no-brainer for the gig-she had worked with him on many occasions and knew he was the best keys player around. Finally, Katie had sung back-up on a few of the same concerts showcasing Mauricio Zotarelli. She was blown away by his incredible feel on the drums and remarkable versatility. Thus, the band was born!Upon graduating from Berklee in December of 2005, Katie released an EP of her original songs with the band entitled "Works for Me;" she plans to promote it and gig as much as possible in the upcoming months. Some of the band's main musical influences include Tori Amos, Elliot Smith, Radiohead, OURS, Muse, Jewel, Fiona Apple, Bjork, and the Beatles. You may currently find Katie living in Allston, MA where she continues to eat, sleep, and breathe music! Katie Locke Works For Me Songs | 1. | Perfect Hue |

Works For Me songs
$10.05 If there's one thing Danko Jones know how to do at this point, it's how to rock. They did it in We Sweat Blood, and it's exactly what they do again in their fifth full-length album, Sleep Is the Enemy. The formula for both these albums has been pretty consistent: fast power chords with a distorted bass echoing the guitar; loud, driving drums; and vocals that fluctuate from a low growl to a mellifluous croon to a full-out scream. But that doesn't mean the new album is ever boring: there's too much raw emotion and sexual energy to allow anyone even a brief moment to nod off. For the band, this is a very important thing; the name of the record is Sleep Is the Enemy, after all, and the simple, to-the-point choruses are just meant to be shouted along to in packed, sweaty stadiums. Jones himself is all testosterone and bravado and is in great form vocally, expressing his indifference toward a jaded lover in "Baby Hates Me," instructing the less confident in when and how to give "The Finger," and angrily yelling his plans for revenge in "Time Heals Nothing." Yes, the themes here, like they always have been with the band, are women and sex and aggression, which are practically the same thing for Jones, but in Sleep Is the Enemy his willingness to explore the ambiguity of the topics shows his (slightly greater) maturity. In "She's Drugs" (which contains the fantastically catchy chorus "She's drugs, she's drugs/Just one look and you get addicted/She's drugs, she's drugs/You take a look and now you're hooked, that's what I predicted"), he chides a friend for being seduced by a dangerous woman, but then in "Invisible," he goes on to list a number of extreme things he'll do for another who isn't noticing him (burning his house down, maxing out his credit card, and making his mother cry being three of the least violent examples). Yeah, Sleep Is the Enemy isn't musical genius by any standard, but it is a loud, confident, straightforward, and fun album that skips guitar solos and instrumental frills to focus on what truly matters to Danko Jones: rocking. ~ Marisa Brown

Works For Me music CDs
$16.45 Jordan Carp's latest release The Dark Architecture is a tapestry of beautiful melodies crafted over inticately woven musical textures. Dark yet hopeful songwriting with stark lyrical imagery is set against lush guitar playing with occasional Moog and Mellotron voices. This is Jordan Carp's third album and his news songs show the depth and growth of his already polished songwriting abilities. Jordan's musical acumen combined with the guidance of the ultra talented producer JP Bowersock (Ryan Adams, the Strokes) makes The Dark Architecture his finest effort yet and has him poised to leap from being a Boston artist to a burgeoning American songwriter. So far the critics agree! The Boston Globe writes, 'A homegrown source of inspiration with the low growl of Peter Gabriel and the guitar chops of Suzanne Vega and we don't hand out such compliments lightly." While the Aquarian Weekly writes, 'Carp makes full use or rich, harmonic textures, contrapuntal melodies, and jazz pop progressions. All 11 songs on this album utilize some sort of tool to take the listener to a place they just couldn't go with their 'everyday" CD collection. Grade: A."'My dad is a classical musician so it was always in the house and that sparked the motivation behind my quest for a musical voice." Jordan remembers, 'This formed my sense of Harmony and Melody and I began discovering all the odd chord voicings that have found there way into my own writing. I was listening to Maurice Ravel, Claude Debussy, John Coltrane, Thelonius Monk, Peter Gabriel, Joni Mitchell. Before really getting into harmony though, I played guitar and would learn Bob Dylan songs and later became a huge Elliot Smith fan." The Son of an Oboist/English ...
