The DVD of this adrenaline-fueled film also includes director and producer commentaries, deleted scenes, 3 alternate endings, theatrical trailers, and more. As the third installment of the X-Men series opens, the world has entered a relatively peaceful period for mutants. There's a mutant-tolerant president of the United States, a blue furry mutant named Beast (Kelsey Grammer) heading up the Department of Mutant Affairs, and Magneto's shape-shifting femme fatale, Mystique, has been captured. The tranquility is shattered by two events. Worthington Laboratories, using a powerful mutant boy, develops a serum that eliminates the "mutant X gene" permanently. This so-called "cure" quickly divides the mutant community; Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart) and his school are willing to give the government the benefit of the doubt, but Magneto (Ian McKellen) and his mutant Brotherhood see the serum as a vile threat to their way of life. They form an army of mutants and march on the fortified Worthington Laboratory located on Alcatraz Island. A much more dire threat appears in the form of the resurrected super-mutant Jean Grey (Famke Janssen), who has succumbed to her cataclysmic Id identity known as The Phoenix. To face these menaces Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) and Storm (Halle Berry) and the younger members of the X-Men must leap into action, but they must do so without the guidance of Professor Xavier--in a showdown with the powers of The Phoenix, his mind-control powers proved insufficient.
To his credit, new X-Men director Brett Ratner emulates the style and tone struck by Bryan Singer (director of the two previous films) by combining outrageous special effects and hyperkinetic action sequences with earnest soul-searching and mutant "issues" that are clearly meant to parallel the political hot-button topics of tolerance, prejudice, power, and responsibility. Theatrical Release: May 26, 2006
X-Men: The Last Stand Reviews: "LAST STAND is a brisk dilution of the original comic-book 'Dark Phoenix' story line with mostly top-notch acting."-- Glenn Kenny, Premiere "[B]ursting with high-end stars....A worthy addition to any X-library."-- Daniel Fierman, Entertainment Weekly "Political strides notwithstanding, the anxious standoff between humans and mutants has reached a crisis point, and the slow-building momentum of the last two installments finally reaches escape velocity..."
-- Carina Chocano, Los Angeles Times "[T]he third X-Men film retains the franchise's kick-butt action, and it has a few emotionally resonant scenes....Director Brett Ratner has a way of blending special effects and action with drama..."-- Claudia Puig, USA Today 3 stars out of 5 -- "X3 is fast, furious....With plenty of shocks in store for trilogy stalwarts, it's a gift of a screenplay..."
-- Matt Mueller, Total Film "[The film has] undeniably spectacular moments....Kelsey Grammar is ideally cast as Beast..."
-- Kim Newman, Sight and Sound 3 stars out of 5 -- "As the opposing leaders of the Mutant culture, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen bring their usual gravitas....It is entertaining, has an air of finality, and it boasts some spectacular visuals."

X-Men: The Last Stand Video X-Men: The Last Stand Movie Review Average Rating: (3.8 out of 5 stars) Colossus' Small Scene The movie overall was great, I enjoyed it! But there was only a small problem. Rogue,Shadowcat/Kitty Pryde, Wolverine,Storm,Iceman,Beast, and Professor X played a big role. But Colossus only had 1 line. And he was one of the main characters in the movie! And at the end of the film the main characters were seen safe at the school. But Colossus wasn't even seen there. I was very disappointed at that!
He had a very small role, and I hope when X-men 4 comes out he will have a bigger role. Submitted by Justin-Lewis (Atlanta,GA,USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO MAKE A X-MEN MOVIE??????? No GAMBIT?? There have been 3 Wolverine movies that came out in the last 5 years.
Wolverine is one of my favourite comic book heroes but i prefer X-men as a group then just wolverine.
Lets put it this way no GAMBIT no X-men. How can you have a X-men movie without Gambit or with Cyclops the oldest member of the X-men not even in the movie alot. The movie should have had Cyclops Jean Grey Wolverine Gambit Rogue Beast Jubilee and Prof X thats the X-MEN. Nightcrawler Collosus Kiddy Pryde Iceman or these characters are great but should not come before the most popular X-men Team. Submitted by Johnsmith (Australia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
mutant x gene not as good as the other two and it could've have been a little longer, but its worth watching. the action alone and the details of the grafx are worth five stars. Submitted by sg (los angeles,ca) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
OK BUT SINGER SHOULD HAVE DIRECTED A LITTLE DISSAPOINTED WITH THIS SEQUEL BUT IT WAS WAY BETTER THAN "SUPERMAN RETURNS". SAW X-3 THIS PAST SUMMER AND THE SPECIAL EFFECTS WERE GREAT. DIDN'T LIKE THE STORY AND THE WAY THEY STRAYED FROM THE COMIC ON HOW JEAN GREY GOT HERE PHEONIX POWER BUT IT MADE FOR A DECIENT PLAY ON THE STORY. WANTED TO SEE MORE OF CYCLOPS IN THIS ONE JUST LIKE THE LAST 2 MOVIES BUT HE IS OUT OF THE GAME EARLY. TOO MANY THINGS TO ME WERE JUST LEFT OUT THERE AND IN THE AIR AT THE END. JUGGERNAUT SHOULD HAVE BEEN TOTAL CGI...WASN'T HE THE SIZE OF THE HULK? HIS POWERS WERE BASED ON MAGIC AFTER ALL. KELSEY GRAMMER WAS A COOL ADDITON TO THIS FILM AS WELL PLAYING BEAST. ANYWAY I WILL GO OUT TODAY AND RENT THIS DVD VERSION THAT HAS 3 ,COUNT'EM 3 ENDINGS TO SEE IF IT IMPROVES THE MOVIE ANY. MEANWHILE I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE NEXT X-MOVIE WHICH I HOPE IS BETTER THAN THIS ONE. NOT TOO BAD A MOVIE STILL SO I GIVE X-3 3 STARS FOR EFFECTS AND EFFORT CONSIDERING SINGER PULLED OUT AND LEFT THEM HANGING. HAVE A NICE DAY EVERYONE. Submitted by MICHAEL (N.C.,U.S.A.)
