Cream Of The Crust
$18.09 Refugee was seen by the British music press at least as an attempt to revive the legendary British progressive rock band The Nice. While two thirds of The Nice (Lee Jackson and Brian Davison) were involved in Refugee the addition of Swiss born keyboard virtuoso Patrick Moraz ensured that the project whilst having the progressive ideals of The Nice was in fact something altogether different. The album has been re mastered for this release and will certainly be of interest to the large and dedicated Patrick Moraz fan base and also of interest to Yes fans through Patrick's membership of the band and lovers of progressive rock music.
Composer: Patrick Moraz. Lyricist: Lee Jackson. Refugee: Patrick Moraz (keyboards); Lee Jackson (bass guitar); Brian Davison (drums). Audio Remasterer: Jean Ristori. This fascinating collection of early 1970s prog-rock was the first and last release from this trio, which comprised members of the Nice (after its keyboardist and leader, Keith Emerson, had left to form ELP), and Emerson's Swiss replacement, Patrick Moraz. The pieces, which include jazz-rock as well as prog, are made up of suites, movements, themes, variations, and other borrowings from classical music, and though the music perhaps lacks the histrionic, knife-wielding edginess of the vintage Emerson-led Nice, the performances are uniformly excellent. Some four years after the demise of the Nice, bassist/vocalist ...

Cream Of The Crust
$8.29 One of the most tragic moments in duranguense history came in December 2007, when the 34-year-old Sergio Gómez (lead singer of the popular Chicago-based band K-Paz de la Sierra) was kidnapped at gunpoint along with two music promoters after a show in Morelia in the Mexican state of Michoacán; the promoters were later released, but Gómez was found dead alongside a highway near the town of Chiquimitio. Law enforcement officials in Michoacán told the media that Gómez had been tortured and died of strangulation, although the motive for his murder remained unclear. Various Gómez tributes followed his death, including Para Recordar: En Memoria de Sergio ("To Remember: In Memoria of Sergio"). This May 2008 release offers remakes of songs that K-Paz de la Sierra recorded when Gómez (who joined the group in 2002) was alive, and many of them were major hits in the regional Mexican market. Serious K-Paz de la Sierra fans will recognize "Jambalaya" (a Spanish-language version of Hank Williams, Sr.'s 1952 country hit), "Volveré," "Mi Credo," "Si Tu Te Fueras de Mi," ...
