Voiced by an all-star cast including Owen Wilson, Paul Newman, and Bonnie Hunt, this film is about a rebellious race car who learns the meaning of friendship and family. Extras include 2 shorts, featurette, and deleted scenes. Talking cars rediscover the quirky originality of middle America in this inventive animated film from the folks at Pixar (TOY STORY, FINDING NEMO). Owen Wilson does the voice of arrogant rookie racecar Lightning McQueen, who winds up stranded in the small desert town of Radiator Springs on his way west to a big showdown. Sentenced to community service after literally tearing up the road in a high-speed chase, at first all Lightning can think of is getting back to the world of corporate sponsorship and merchandising tie-ins he loves so well. Eventually, however, the eccentric residents of Radiator Springs begin to grow on him, especially the attractive lady Porsche lawyer (Bonnie Hunt) and a rusty old tow-truck (Larry the Cable Guy). There's also a hippie Volkswagen (George Carlin), a low-riding T-bird (Cheech Martin) and Paul Newman as the gruff, curmudgeonly Doc Hudson, the town judge who harbors his own checkered-flag past. The story may not be new, but Pixar's precision-engineered animation brilliantly illuminates the town and its surrounding cactus-studded vistas down to the minutest detail, and director/writer John Lasseter keeps the film's satiric wit and generous heart in perfect alignment. Adults in the audience should appreciate the film's celebration of old-school American eccentricity, and the kids will dig all the thunderous grit and high-octane wheel burning. Randy Newman composed the score; James Taylor sings one of the songs. $11.19 Tekken Tag Tournament is a lightning fast port of the arcade game that boasts a 20-fighter plus cast of characters and one of the most famous control methods in gaming -- one button per limb. In addition, it has evolved from a conventional one-to-one competition into a tag battle with two characters for each team. Gamers can even choose to play against three friends using a multi-tap, participate in a traditional two-player tournament, or hone their fighting skills against the computer. Other features for TTT include enhanced visuals over the arcade version and additional game modes.
It should come as no surprise that Tekken Tag Tournament will hit the shelves on PS2's opening day. It first appeared as a tech demo way back when - and damn, did it look good. And while the game may not look as convincingly realistic as it did back then, it still manages to impress. Its release is imminent and that's a good thing for anyone who has been patient enough to wait for the US launch. For the most part, gameplay remains untouched with a few tweaks here and there. Although TTT plays just like its arcade cousin, it looks like a million dollars (almost what I paid for my Metal Gear Solid DVD - sigh). The difference is like night and day - a few thousand extra polys per fighter go a long long way. Jin Kazama is ripped; his highly defined back muscles are visible during battle, not just the intro. And wait 'til you get a load of Nina. It's not just the fighters that see new enhancements, backgrounds receive nearly as much master detail. Yoshi's winter forest set is stunning, with snowflakes falling in a seemingly random manner; the snow-covered ground has a convincing effect - it appears bumpy. Eddie's grassy field is also quite impressive, with cheering onlookers. Visual effect like hit animations light up the screen as brilliant as Disneyland's daily pyrotechnics show.
In Namco tradition, Tekken Tag Tournament is full of goodies to keep rabid (not avi

| | M*A*S*H DVD (1970) Widescreen
Cars movie DVD
$10.29 With the release of Robert Altman's M*A*S*H in 1970, a new form of comedy was born, one that would help to forever change the face of cinema. Altman's audacious film reflected the American counterculture's growing distrust of religion and government in the late 1960s and early 1970s, resulting in one of the biggest box office smashes of its time. Introducing the techniques he would employ throughout his storied career--overlapping dialogue, a constantly moving camera with a heavy amount of zooming, and a bold combination of frank subject matter with cynical humor--Altman immediately vaulted himself to Hollywood's upper ranks. Based on the novel by Richard Hooker, M*A*S*H follows a group of Mobile Army Surgical Hospital officers as they perform surgery and pass the time just miles from the front lines of the Korean conflict. Led by sardonic captains "Hawkeye" Pierce (Donald Sutherland) and "Trapper" John McIntyre (Elliott Gould), the film has the feel of an absurd three-ring circus. Other characters include the uptight nurse "Hot Lips" O'Houlihan (Sally Kellerman), the confused Major Frank Burns (Robert Duvall), the troubled Captain "Painless" Waldowski (John Shuck), and the simpleminded Captain "Duke" Forrest (Tom Skerritt). Altman's decision to present his film as a series of loosely connected vignettes rather than a traditionally unfolding narrative perfectly captures the freewheeling spirit so unique to early-'70s cinema.

$10.49 Extreme sports receive another loving treatment from award-winning documentarian Dana Brown, whose previous film STEP INTO LIQUID helped to define a new generation of surf culture. This time he sets his sights on the notorious Tecate Score Baja 1000, the longest and most challenging off-road race in the world. It is also the only race that virtually any vehicle may enter, and the list encompasses motorcycles, trophy trucks, class-one buggies, and even ancient Volkswagon Beetles. The drivers of this diverse group of automobiles share one thing: a taste for the thrill of the race. But they also clearly enjoy the camaraderie and fellowship of the participants. Begun in 1967 by a small band of adventurers, it had grown by 2003 to encompass 1200 participants with 270 vehicles between them, and a rowdy group of over over 200,000 spectators. The atmosphere is both carnivalesque and extremely intense, with the pristine blue Pacific and the desert mountains providing a backdrop for a distilled human drama playing itself out in sun and sand.
The race represents something personal and profound to all who take up its challenge, from 16-year-old Andy McMillin to old-timer JN Roberts--who won the very first Baja race 30 years before. Mike "Mouse" McCoy's decision to ride the entire race himself, without relief riders, garners both respect and doubts as to his sanity. The cast of characters is rounded out by Mario Andretti, who cheerfully hosts the festivities. While the athletes' unapologetic pursuit of pleasure and unmitigated sense of fun is the focus of this refreshing film, the superlative photography captures the stunning Mexican landscape against which the race takes place, representing both the danger and the beauty that draws untold numbers of thrill seekers every year.
From Dana Brown comes this film about the most notorious and dangerous race in the world: the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000. Top drivers featured include Mario Andretti, Robby GOrdon, Johnny Campbell, Steve
| | March Of The Penguins DVD (2005) Widescreen
Cars film
$8.85 Coming from a French director, Luc Jacquet, the miraculous MARCH OF THE PENGUINS would have to be a love story. And so it is. The film explores the mating rituals of the emperor penguin, one of the most resilient animals on earth. Each summer, after a nourishing period of deep-sea feeding, the penguins pop up onto the ice and begin their procession across the frozen tundra of Antarctica. Walking doggedly in single file, they are a sight to behold. Hundreds converge from every direction, moving instinctively toward their mating ground. Once there, they mingle and chatter until they find the perfect mate--a monogamous match that will last a year, through the brutal winter and into the spring. During that time, the mother will give birth to an egg and then leave for the ocean to feed again. The father will stay to protect the egg through the freezing blizzards and pure darkness of winter, which would be deadly to practically any other species. Finally, with spring, the egg hatches and the baby penguins are born. Mothers return from the sea to reunite with their families and feed the starving newborns, while the fathers are finally relieved of their protective duties after months without food. This remarkable story is narrated by Morgan Freeman, whose dignified voice gives the penguins the grave admiration they deserve. But even more incredible is the photography, which shows the penguins hunting underwater, sliding on the ice, and even what definitely looks like kissing. At one point the camera even zooms inside the mouth of a penguin as it regurgitates food for its young. A story of love and, more strikingly, survival, MARCH OF THE PENGUINS is a stirring, eye-opening, and educational experience.
In the Antarctic, every March since the beginning of time, the quest begins to find the perfect mate and start a family. This courtship will begin with a long journey - a journey that will take them hundreds of miles across the continent by foot, in freezing cold temperature

| | Snows Of Kilimanjaro DVD (1952) Westlake Entertainment Group
Cars movie DVD
$5.95 This lavish, big-budget blockbuster combined tales from Ernest Hemingway's life with Papa's already famous autobiographical novel of the same name. As Harry (Gregory Peck) lies wounded and delirious in an African campsite at the foot of the snow-covered slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, he recounts the story of his life in a series of flashbacks. Writing, women, and big-game hunting--these are the things that have defined and dominated his existence. In pursuit of all three, he has traveled the globe from the salons of Bohemian Paris to the battlefields of Spain to the plains of Africa. Now, in the shadow of the great mountain and his own approaching death from gangrene, he tries to make sense of his failures. Few Hemingway novels play as well onscreen as they do on paper, but under the direction of Henry King, star Peck turns in an inspired performance. Susan Hayward plays Harry's devoted beau, while Harry himself pines for the love he lost in Cynthia (Ava Gardner). The romantic, sentimental, qualities embedded in the fine script are driven home by Bernard Hermann's brilliant score. Theater operators actually feared that audiences would stay away from the film because they couldn't pronounce Kilimanjaro, but the film turned out to be one of the biggest hits of 1952.
