5 stars It's not rock, but it ROCKS! it's not Pop, but it's POPPIN!!
This is full blow fusion at it's best. It also is filled with many layers and side trips along the way. Waited many years for this on CD and it was worth the wait. It sounds crisp and clear not like my old record. IMHO this is on of the greats of this genre, if there is one for Forward Motion. It's Return to Forever meets Oblivion Express while listening to Jade Warrior.

5 stars Gem Uncovered
Finally they release this on CD!!!!!!! Undoubtedly the coolest Fusion album of all time. If your into fusion with a psychedelic tinge to it buy this before it's to late. A bunch of studio musicians that played on everything from Carol King's Tapestry to you name it get together to make this album. Just a great performance, these guys really show off their musical prowess on this one. Can't say enough about it. Check it out!@!

Mary-Anne Paterson's rare 1970 Me album is a nice British folk recording that, while grounded in traditional acoustic material, avoids stiffness in its execution, though it's delivered with a fairly restrained, reverent tone. Paterson has a high voice that should appeal to fans of British folk of the period, as that genre had so many clear upper-register vocalists in a roughly similar mold, ŕ la Jacqui McShee of Pentangle and Judy Dyble of Fairport Convention/Trader Horne. Her voice might recall very early Marianne Faithfull, except that there's somewhat more of a Renaissance-medieval flavor, which carries over in a lesser degree to the material and arrangements. Most of the material is traditional, save for a couple Paterson originals in "Love Has Gone" and "Reverie for Roslyn," which combines with the stark, slightly echoed production to create a haunting anachronistic atmosphere. ...

However, to draw simple comparisons with that pioneering player's approach would not paint a complete picture. Grant has the soul of a bluesman, notably on "Rainmaker" and "Oasis," on which the guitarist's work recalls Gary Moore's fretwork on "Still Got the Blues." Irvine-based Grant plays with incredible skill, wrapping expressive solos in textured arrangements that blend elements of progressive rock, modern jazz and electric blues. You might like if you enjoy: Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, Gary MooreFrom the CD Mythology, "Patong Beach" was aired on an ABC TV's primetime show called "MD's",behind a segment that featured Macy Gray. Also "Jade" received airplay from radio station CFOX.Located in Southern California , James Says " I have the heart of a blues guitar player but have always been interested in opening up other harmonic territories and exploring sounds that can take people on a journey through their own emotions. For example "Rainmaker" has been described as "Pink Floydesque" and "Jade" as an example of how to make a guitar cry. "Patong Beach" probably gets closest to a traditional minor blues pattern but then the "double stop" bends are reminiscent of Roy Buchanan. And "Darkstar, " with it's drop D tuning has a lovely brooding vibe to it, which I have a great time superimposing funky, spiky riffs on top of. When I'm asked what to call this music I don't have a quick snappy response.....it's real...it's heartfelt.... it's different.Regarding the title of the CD" it was inspired by the writings of Joseph Campbell the great teacher of Mythology.
