Aly & AJ Michalka sing like only sisters can: close, cozy harmonies that reflect trust, comfort, and mutual inspiration. On their second album (following 2005's chart-topping INTO THE RUSH) the young ladies' sweet vocals are applied to a list of holiday classics like "We Three Kings," "The First Noel," and "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen." Acoustic Hearts Of Winter
$10.49 This generous 17-song set is culled from live performances from all over the world: Athens, Berlin, Jerusalem and Munich, to name a few. Despite a few intense electric moments ("Locomotive Breath," "A New Day Yesterday") this is very much in the "unplugged" tradition, meaning many of the formerly electric rock numbers are recast in gentler settings, featuring spare, acoustic accompaniment. The approach is perfectly suited to the songs of Jethro Tull and Ian Anderson's image as the rustic troubadour.
The collection provides a thorough retrospective of the group's career, from the blues-rock that marked its earliest incarnation (""The Sun Won't Shine For You") to classic hit singles like "Living in the Past," which has been reworked into a purely instrumental version. Anderson revisits some of the ...

| | Christine Rosander Smooth Ride CD (2007)
Acoustic Hearts Of Winter
$15.89 From the first fiery note to the last whispery phrase, Christine Rosander’s sultry voice grabs hold and doesn’t let go, stirring up yearning and desire long after a song has ended. Her debut CD, Smooth Ride (Devcat Records), produced by Jane Getz and Bob Tucker, introduces Christine as an emerging voice of tomorrow’s music with sounds that cross cultural, ethnic, and gender boundaries to span generations. A one woman melting pot, her style melds pop, rhythm and blues, rock, jazz, folk, and country into a unique, powerful, and sensitive musical identity. She sings stories of human existence and her own life, and retells the sorrows and joys of being alive. “With my singing, everything is instinctive…everything,” says Christine. “It’s a reflection of my feelings, memories, and intuition.” Smooth Ride is what Christine calls “an accidental concept album” because its diversity of styles and emotions makes a statement. “I believe that my audiences are people who long for interesting musical experiences in songs that speak to their lives. My music is an invitation to participate in something fresh.” Her strong and sexy style blends playful to poignant influences including the emotion of Rickie Lee Jones, the folk voice of Joni Mitchell, the sophisticated blues of Nina Simone, the storytelling panache of Billie Holiday, the rock-jazz feeling of Donald Fagan, the country pop attitude of the Dixie Chicks, and powerful songwriting influences such as the Beatles, CSNY, Bread, and many more. Each becomes undeniably her own. Smooth Ride came together like a slow avalanche. Christine started recording with Louis Van Taylor on two of the more jazz oriented sides; he then suggested that veteran keyboardist Jane Getz take over. That led to the involvement of Jane’s husband, noted producer, recordist, and musician, Bob Tucker. They began to record ...

Acoustic Hearts Of Winter
$12.65 Former Drill Sergeant, two time Iraq war veteran, Army Arts Festival Award Winner, and even lead role in an Army of One Commercial. These don\'t even start to tell of the many accomplishment Cali Jonez has had both as a soldier and a hip-hop artist. Cali Jonez became serious about music when he was fourteen. He went to a show where California super group, TunnelRatz, were performing. immediatley he fell in love with hip-hop. For the next six years he put everything he had into making his passion blossom. With no money and no place to stay Cali Jonez put his desire to be a hip-hop artist on hold and joined the United States Army. Soon after joining he realized that he could do both and began to really get serious about music. Cali Jonez began producing for dozens of artists in and around Ft Stewart, Ga. He even began to gain momentum landing shows in Savannah and winning freestyle competitions on e93 Jamz out of Savannah. All this, howvere would have to be put on hold. Cali Jonez was off to Iraq where he would spend the next year fighting to rid the Saddam Regime. Once he returned home he quickly got back into music and after seeing the Nick Berg beheading wrote a song called \"Warrior\" that would become an award winner in the Amry Arts Festival of 2004. Leading to a spot in the soldiers show that he would be unable to take because he would be heading to Iraq again. Cali Jonez knew that, again, he had made major moves in music but it would have to wait. Little did he know that this time Iraq would be different. While there Cali Jonez got a spot on MTV, opened up for Toby Kieth, and even got a mention in the Marne Standard, the deployed news letter. ...
