Released in 2006, CONSEQUENCE OF CHAOS presents veteran jazz guitarist Al DiMeola performing a set of 15 original compositions, ranging from the delicate but funky "San Marco (Moderna)" to the jaunty, samba-like "Red Moon" to the frenetic "Tempest," all of which showcase DiMeola's amazingly agile six-string work. In addition to his regular backing band, DiMeola is assisted by Chick Corea (keyboards), Steve Gadd (drums), and other fellow fusion luminaries, resulting in one of his finest latter-day recordings.

A Triumph I have always felt that Al Di Meola was that best living guitarist! I know that is an amazing claim. After years of relative obscurity, finally he has made a return to his late 70's form and made this winner. Here are the lovely Spanish melodies, the lightning fast licks, inventive improvision, and the deep harmonic understanding. Welcome back! Submitted by St.Davey (Windham, Me.) Was This Review Helpful? simply the best This is one of Al's best ever. I saw this performed live recently. The man is a true virtuoso. Beautiful acoustic tunes one moment and blowing the doors off the theater the next. If your A progessive jazz fan, this is a must have. I,m a 30+ year fan. Submitted by Skippy (So Cal) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Al and Chick Together Again ! As a DiMeola fan since 1974 during Al's Return to Forever tenure, the opportunity to hear Al and Chick Corea's latest recorded effort together since 1982 is a real musical treat. A smokin' "Red Moon" plus the duet "Cry for You" makes this Al/Chick reunion a must-have. Legendary Steve Gadd, Barry Miles, and John Patitucci plus Al's tight touring band make this polyrhythmic, complex-melodied project a musical tour de force. A blast to listen to, and my favorite of all of Al's more recent 1990-2003 recordings including "Flesh on Flesh." Come hear these virtuosos make it all sound so easy. Consequence Of Chaos album
$11.59 Circus' only released album is something of a letdown. They attained considerable popularity on the bountiful Madison, WI, rock scene and then throughout the Midwest festival circuit due to their impressive live show and jamming capabilities. And the list of artists that they supported makes for a winning resume. But Circus is not nearly as interesting as albums by fellow scenesters SOUP or Tayles because the band was mostly unable to translate the excitement of their live shows into the recording studio. Instead of a talented improvisational band, it makes them sound more often like a pedestrian blues-rock or hard rock outfit. The band's signature claim to fame is their utilization of synthesizers, particularly the Moog and clavinet, and the instruments do add intriguing textures, but they are unable to conceal the rather plodding, drab songwriting. Their original tunes pale in comparison to even the second-rate tunes by the Allman Brothers Band and the Grateful Dead, two bands that seem to be touchstones for Circus. They simply are unable to muster many melodies that are particularly memorable, and when they do, as on "Fat Boogie Mama," it is borrowed almost entirely -- even down to the actual hook -- from Loggins & Messina's "Your Mama Can't Dance." The most interesting original may be "Travlin' Blues," which, contrary to the title, is solid country-rock with a nice banjo solo. It suggests that Circus may have benefited from leaning harder on that genre, at ...
