The Return of Ruben Studdard features tracks produced by The Underdogs, Scott Storch, and Ne-Yo to name a few. Ruben is back with a collection of Soul, R&B, and Pop hits, including "Change Me," "What The Business," and the classic rendition of Luther Vandross's "If Only for One Night."
After a brief detour into the realm of gospel (2004's I NEED AN ANGEL), AMERICAN IDOL winner Ruben Studdard is back with more vintage-tinged loverman soul on 2006's THE RETURN. As on the singer's 2003 debut, SOULFUL, THE RETURN is littered with musical nods to Luther Vandross and Marvin Gaye, and works mid- to downtempo grooves to sensual effect. Studdard's smooth, velvet voice glides easy as the breeze, making good on his moniker "the velvet teddy bear." There are a few uptempo dance cuts here, and the production is au courant enough to sound at home on urban contemporary radio, but Studdard's real forte is in slow bedroom jams, and THE RETURN delivers on that count.

I absolutely love this cd. My son bought it for me and ended up buying one for himself. To my surprise the song we both like best is Happy, but all the tracks are really good. His amazing voice shines thru, I am very happy he came back to his roots, that's why he won American Idol. Way to go Ruben, this is your best effort yet!!!!!

OMG!!! RUBEN HAS DONE IT AGAIN. HIS FIRST ALBUM WAS WONDERFUL AND HE DID NOT DISAPPOINT WITH THIS ONE. HE IS A TRUE SINGER. MY FAV IS "CHANGE ME" AND HIS LV REMAKE. I LOOOOOOVE!!!!!!! RS HE IS TRULY A LEGEND A TRUE STAR. I WOULD LOVE FOR HIM AND FANTASIA TO WORK TOGETHER THAT WOULD BE SOMETHING. KUDOS RUBEN!

I love this CD! Every song is different which showcases his many talents! WOW! The sound the voice says it all! Great job Ruben, looking forward to the next one! I'm hoping the next single will be "Our Story".

Ruben has done very well with this CD. I love every track on there. I am stuck on track 3, 'Make You Feel Beautiful.' This song is absolutely beautiful. This should be the second song released. Ruben, you go boy!

The previous reviewer of this album suggested, "Album of the Year," and I've got to say, I agree 100%. On average, I buy a new CD or two each week. Up until this point, I would estimate that I've purchased somewhere in the area of 60 new CDs this year - and this one is in the top 5 for sure. Ruben gets better with every album...
