Experimental musicians Isis are well placed on the roster of eclectic label Ipecac, which specializes in bringing twisted, avant garde noise to the masses. CLEARING THE EYE is a two-hour visual and aural excursion into their fascinating musical world. Isis - Clearing The Eye Movie Review Average Rating: (4.8 out of 5 stars) ISIS deliver the goods with an excellent DVD If you are a fan of ISIS, you need to pick up this DVD. The full concert from Sydney is worth it alone, plus the tracks from Japan and Los Angeles which are also excellent. The archival footage from CBGB's and from the Celestial era is a little lacking in the visual department, but the sound quality is still pretty good (though not as great as the newer footage from LA and Australia). Also includes the only music video ISIS has made as of yet for "In Fiction" and a still photo gallery. Submitted by alienoar (Dunedin, FL) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
FINALLY...FACES with the THUNDER!!! The MOST underrated and unknown group in the world can finally be VIEWED as well as HEARD on this very professionally produced DVD! Like ISIS themselves, this DVD is also EXTREMELY underrated. I've read reviews giving this work what equates to a yawn...well my eyes are WIDE open every time I view this! High quality sound, resolution, and layout make this long overdue DVD worth the wait - and it was a LONG wait! Submitted by Dean (Syracuse, New York) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Excellent DVD captures the band's live feel..... Experimental Metal/Stoner Rock masters Isis release a great DVD to coincide with their upcoming album, "In Absence Of The Truth" and it kicks ass. This DVD was shot almost entirely on the Panopticon Tour, so don't get this if you expect a sneak peek at the new stuff from "Absence".
The DVD production is outstanding and the sound quality is good to very good.
The best part is a 70+ minute complete set from Sydney,Australia. The DVD includes a 20 page booklet with liner notes, images, and get this....LYRICS!!!

This DVD, ISIS - Clearing The Eye, is a good place to start! I dont own any of their albums, just heard a few from their website and liked them from that. Bought the DVD and loved it, worth my time and money. It's very spaced out long jazz like compositions over a vocalist who haulers emotion through the songs. Some songs are very elaborate, some songs are very plain. You will be surprized at what you will hear in this band.
Only thing that I kinda found goofy about this DVD, was during the 2 low quality shows, the bald dude in the front who is very, very into, and honestly it just gets annoying after awhile, because he keeps bobbing around and even taking pictures. I mean the band was doing great! Just takes attention away from the show, when your the only person in the crowd moving your annoying, distracting, and you look stupid.
Overall A great band DVD of concerts, they should get recognize. The singer could be better, not to bash him in anyway, please, I just can't understand the lyrics. But maybe I haven't been exposed to ISIS enough yet and that's just how they do their thing and it works for them. The Jazzy-epic-anger-emotional style certainly catches my ears. Isis - Clearing The Eye video
$6.29 From the intriguing opening sound textures of SGNL>05, one wouldn't imagine that this gentle stream would evolve into a grand work of nu-metal mastery. Here, Isis weaves a beautiful tapestry of lilted piano set deep into the mix of a windswept field recording, but it doesn't take long for the band to turn the world on its ear. SGNL>05, a five-track EP, is the extension of the earlier Celestial record. Lead vocalist and guitarist Aaron Turner's growl may sound cliché in this form, but SGNL>05 quickly proves that it isn't the work of some bored, depressed high school band. Rather, ...

Isis - Clearing The Eye film
$13.59 Oceanic is the next logical step for Isis after the ugly, grandiose Celestial, the Aaron Turner-led outfit's second full-length looking simultaneously inward and outward, reaching into the nether regions of outer space while still keeping its feet firmly earthbound. Yes, it's an ambitious record, one that isn't immediately consumed and digested -- rather, it consumes and digests the listener with grand and hypnotic waves of sound. Songs blur together as aggressive, post-hardcore guitar riffery trades with lengthy, meditative bouts of electronic ...
