(5 Customer Reviews)
This 2 DVD set presents the second night in Sydney, Australia of their most ambitious tour, with newly mixed 5.1 surround and digitally remastered visuals. The first DVD features thrilling and intimate performances of 23 legendary U2 songs. The second DVD features bonus performances, 3 documentaries, backstage cameras capturing the transformation of Bono into his encore persona, Mr. MacPhisto, video confessional, karaoke, DVD-Rom screensavers, wallpapers, and weblinks, and Easter Eggs. U2 had been a major entity in the rock music world for many years by the time they released the ACHTUNG BABY album. Yet, it was this album that brought the band from popular rock act to multimedia force as their concerts began to include the video screen as an important part of the show. Following ACHTUNG BABY was the ZOOROPA album and one of U2's most successful (both artistically and commercially) tours, the Zoo TV Tour, in which the multimedia experience was expanded upon. This 1993 concert in Sydney, Austraila captures the Irish rockers in prime form, performing such hits as "Numb," "Even Better than the Real Thing," "One," "Bullet the Blue Sky," and "Where the Streets Have No Names."
Filmed in Sidney, Australia on November 27, 1993.

SENSORY OVERLOAD Man, what a GREAT concert!! By a great band. I found myself acting like I was at the concert itself; jumping up and down, singing, cheering, laughing... such an awesome experience. U2 stretch and expand the limits of what a great rock show can be - so much more than a band playing their best or latest songs; there are alteregoes [Mr. Macphisto is my favourite], "b-stage" performances, the barrier between performer and audience is BROKEN, cars used for spotlights, the devil himself even makes an appearance, and a million TV screens flashing messages at the audience at lighting fast speed. IT'S A ROCK 'N' ROLL CIRCUS!
I was too young to see this live, but WOW, this DVD must get pretty close to how it must feel live. The audience are great, the stage is terrific, the band is AWESOME, the songs are unbelievable. And all for under $30! AMAZING value! Submitted by Sarah (Melbourne, Australia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 5 found this helpful.

Simply the best I don't care who you are or what you think of U2's music, they know how to put on a show. Zoo TV was perhaps the greatest rock tour of all time, because of the amount of technical effects and the great performances by the band. You can't beat three or four giant TVs flashing insane slogans like "death is a career move"(I think the size and amount of screens are representative of a world record); cars hung off of the framework, their headlights used as spotlights; a belly dancer coming onstage during "Mysterious Ways" and Bono's prank calls to George Bush and the Pope. Most of this, if not all of this, is included in this disc, recorded at one of the last shows the tour was on. If you love U2, and you've never seen Zoo TV, you need to pick this DVD up. It's more than worth the price. Submitted by leviathan8800 (New York) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 0 of 4 found this helpful.

U2 - Zoo TV Live From Sydney video
$32.99 This Limited Edition of HOW TO DISMANTLE AN ATOMIC BOMB includes a bonus DVD that features a documentary film and live performances. It also includes a 45-page book featuring illustrations, paintings, and photography by U2.
Much in the manner of their previous album, ALL THAT YOU CAN'T LEAVE BEHIND, U2 largely strips down the stadium-sized approach of years past on the provocatively titled HOW TO DISMANTLE AN ATOMIC BOMB. Whether they were inspired by the garage-rock revival that took place in between the two records, or just felt like making some visceral rock & roll, this 2004 release has as much unbridled energy as such early U2 benchmarks as BOY or WAR. The album starts with a bang, courtesy of the charging, angular "Vertigo," whose driving bass line and shouted vocals announce the band's intentions in no uncertain terms.
The bluesy "Love and Peace or Else," and the fuzz-guitar-fueled "All Because of You" follow suit in a similarly high-energy manner. That's not to say that this is a mere ...
