Big City Blues album
$19.59 It is nearly impossible to imagine a time when reggae was not part of the cultural currency. Though Bob Marley and the Wailers cannot be said to have invented the style, they certainly brought it to the world stage, and this album was the torch that lit the way. CATCH A FIRE hit with the force of a revelation when it was released in 1973, and though Chris Blackwell tailored its sound with a rock audience in mind, the album was still unlike anything that had ever come down the pike. Ironically, even given its relatively full production and electric guitar solos, CATCH A FIRE sounds more organic and rootsy than any of the Wailers' subsequent releases.
While the percolating rhythms and burbling bass lines of the Barrett brothers, and the sweet, impeccable ...

| | Delaney & Bonnie Accept No Substitute CD (1969)
Big City Blues music CDs
$11.59 While Delaney & Bonnie will be forever associated with Eric Clapton and Layla & Other Assorted Love Songs, the couple, along with a loose association of friends, recorded a number of classics in their own right. Released in 1969, Accept No Substitute contained the same blend of soul and rock & roll that would show up on Layla the following year. While the production, as Matthew Greenwald points out in the liner notes, has a "pop sheen," Delaney & Bonnie's earthy vocals, along with the band's rhythm & blues assault, nonetheless dictate the proceedings. The horn section and expressive ...

Big City Blues songs
$13.15 \"My first memory is the enormous record shelf my dad had.\" \"We used to rock in his chair and listen to music all day.\" At the tender age of 19, Stefan Paul George seeks to take the music world by storm. Teaching himself to play guitar in the eighth grade, Stefan has not stopped. Having played the saxophone since he was 10, and traveling internationally for jazz, Stefan incorporates his love for jazz and varying melodies in all of his songs. Stefan is influenced heavily by acoustic artists and powerful songwriters, as well as jazz. The emphasis Stefan puts on his lyrics, outweighs the rest of the music. Stefan loves the likes of David Gray, The Counting Crows, and Ben Folds, and Dave Matthws. He finds his tastes in melody from jazz and being open minded in all the music he hears. He first ...
