Jounce formed in the small, suburban town of Wyckoff, NJ, technically 17 miles from Manhattan but really light years away. There, four childhood friends spent their days jamming in basements, parties and local bars, or wherever people would listen. Upon release from college in Spring of 2004, Jounce relocated to a somewhat secluded property bordered by the Holyoke State Forest in Amherst, MA. They converted an old shed (it was a big shed) to serve as their rehearsal space and traveled extensively, playing hundreds of shows and sharing bills with influences like the Benevento Russo Duo, The Flaming Lips, ulu and the Slip. After several years, the band returned home to the New York area where they eventually landed in Manhattan's Lower East Side. In April of 2006, Syracuse University was the place where they would lay down the foundation for a new album with keyboardist Adam Gold. Working with longtime friend and soundman Marco Centola, the band turned out eight tracks that would then be mixed back in New York by Centola and mastered by Grammy nominated engineer Alan Silverman (The Kinks, Cheap Trick, Norah Jones).

The self-titled album was released on June 29th, 2006, followed by an east coast tour and New York shows at BB Kings, The Mercury Lounge and Mexicali Blues. The opening song "You Tell Me" garnered 3rd place in Relix Magazine's Winter 2006 Jamoff Competition out of over 500 submissions.

2007 finds the band continuing to tour and write new music. "By 11:15, when Jounce made their way to the performance floor, Plan B was so packed that they barely had room for their amps and pedals. With the aid of the events staff, they got the room they needed, warmed up, and following a moving intro by Alex, they began playing one of the most up-close-and-personal sets of there young yet experienced careers. They careened in and out of funked up jam sessions and memorable rock riffs to elevate the already amped crowd to an all-new high. At this point I was working the door and watched as previously unaware passer-bys got sucked in and gladly donated 5-bucks to rock out with Jounce and NYCUG!"-Nycug "Jounce shows are a full-body experience, felt as easily as they are heard. Songs spanning 15-plus minutes pump the band's groove-infused blend of beat-heavy rock and electric soul and funk into a bouncing crowd."-The Bergen Record"Jounce are a mixture of blues, funk and rock that can only be described as 'chill' and full of soul."-East Coast Rocker "They could be labeled as simply a jam-band but have enough rock influences to distinguish them from most tripped out fluff." -Mount Holyoke News"Their non-stop playing and whirlwind tour has made Jounce's instrumentation tighter than ever. The musicians communicate with their eyes; a nod of the head, the smallest smile. They know each other."-Twin Boro News"Jounce, who blew the place up - on New Year's Eve."- Createavibe on the band's 2003 NYE performance at Mexicali Blues with uluToured throughout NY, NJ, CT, VT, MA, ME, PA, MD, VA, NC, SC, GA, & TN and appeared at venues including The Knitting Factory, The Mercury Lounge & BB Kings (New York), The World Cafe Live & North Star (Philadelphia), Harper's Ferry (Boston), Nectar's (Burlington), The Brandyhouse (Atlanta) and The Pour House (Charleston).

Includes liner notes Peter Guralnick and Ernst Mikael Jorgensen. Commemorating the 25th anniversary of Elvis Presley's death, 30 #1 HITS presents a career-spanning serving of the King's chart-toppers. Dating back to "Heartbreak Hotel" (which was inspired by a suicide note printed in the Miami Herald), most of these cuts have become indelibly etched into the fabric of pop culture and each has a unique story behind it. "Love Me Tender" has its origins in the Civil War ballad "Aura Lee," "It's Now Or Never" found Elvis Americanizing the Neapolitan ballad "O Sole Mio," and "Wooden Heart" likewise was converted from a German children's song. This Memphis native's choice of artists to ...

This CD was created in my recording studio which is located in my bedroom. The way it came about is that I was in the process of writing music for night clubs/raves and so I went around to people and I asked them what they would like to listen to, party to, or dance to if they were out on the town and they all consistently told me that they would like songs that are at least five minutes in length with tempo changes throughout the song. So I went home and started building what I like to think of as "an album for the people by the people". I really felt it was important to get people to share their wants and don't wants before I made this CD. After about three months of non-stop work on this album it came to completion. Then I started demo-ing the CD for people and I received an overwhelming reaction in favor of my creation. I was told that the energy was dialed in, that it was definitely aggressive/edgey, and was something that they'd like to go clubbing to. After the creation of the music came the other hurdle...the creation ...

This Town Will Get Its Due
Adam Snyder This Town Will Get Its Due CD  (2006)

Jounce album
CD $11.49
It was the summer of 2003 and the power had gone out for the third time that season. Adam Snyder had been in Europe the last couple of years, promoting his first solo album. Now he was back in Kingston and his hometown was, literally, dark.

Walking the eerily quiet streets at night, Adam could almost imagine it was 100 years earlier. Up from the waterfront through the twisted alleyways, the old moonlit buildings and busted up sidewalks seemed to echo with the voices of those who had come and gone long before. These ghostly sensations would follow Adam back up the hill to his own, darkened, 19th century house, where he'd light a candle and pick up his guitar.

Eventually the problem was sorted out and the neighborhood blackouts became less frequent, but the spirit of those dark, nocturnal rambles remained, and This Town Will Get Its Due was born.

Adam moved with his family up to Kingston from New York City in the early 70s when he was a boy. He'd spent his youth wandering the streets which are famed for their colonial houses but which, for many years, maintained the spirit of other time periods as well. The Great Depression, for instance, had hit the old industrial city particularly hard.

Like a lot of people, Adam cut out of his hometown the first chance he got and spent the rest of his teens and twenties living all over the place. From New York City to London, from Seattle to the midwest, Adam played music constantly, both on his own and in bands, but it still hadn't quite occurred to him that this would be his profession.

Then in the mid 90s, through some strange twist of fate, an indie band called Mercury Rev found their way from Buffalo to Kingston. Adam, home visiting his family, found himself connecting with them. Before he knew it, he had joined the band and was touring the world.

The band was in a period of transformation and Adam found himself a key player in the recording of a new kind of album for Mercury Rev called Deserters' Songs. At first the album did not seem like it would find a place in the musical landscape of the time, the band braced for bad reviews. What happened surprised everyone. The album quickly went gold abroad and the band suddenly found themselves achieving success, as well as pop ...
