It seemed like nothing could stop Journey when it kept its string of multi-million selling blockbuster albums intact with the release of 1983's FRONTIERS. The band also successfully made the transition to the MTV era with this release, benefiting from the new station's constant airing of its (inadvertently) hilarious video for "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)."
Also included here are two more hit ballads that showcase vocalist Steve Perry's immense talents: "Faithfully" and "Send Her My Love," as well as the often-overlooked rockers "Chain Reaction" and "Rubicon." This would prove to be the last Journey release with its classic Perry-Schon-Cain-Smith-Valory line-up for 13 years.
Also available in a 3-pack with ESCAPE and INFINITY.

Frontiers Music Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) FABULOUS CD! The remastered "Frontiers" by Journey is just wonderful. Excellent sound quality, crisp and clear tones; a totally enjoyable musical experience. A must for any true Journey fan. Submitted by wilmafrijole (Mobile, AL) Was This Review Helpful? Journey New Frontiers If there was a 4 and 1/2 stars rating I would Give this cd that rating the problem here is not the songs.Though Backtalk is a terrible song unless your a parent you might find something in that. The problem is the final mix why is Cain's melodic keyboard overlaping Neals Guitar and perry's Voice so its potential is lowed and becomes their best but wrost recorded album Favorite cuts edge of the Blade, send her my love, frontiers thankfully they added only the young Kenny Sykuluk's 16 year last song before his death from cystric fibrosis which the band Submitted by Brett Davidson (Journeyfan327@aol.com) Was This Review Helpful? Still not as good as it should be. I listened to this a million times when it came out in 1983. I love science fiction and loved the cover art. I wanted this album to be something to transport me. But the ballads ultimately kill the energy...then and now. My favorites are still the album cuts, "Edge of the Blade", "Back Talk", "Frontiers", and "Rubicon". Wisely, this reissue also adds the two hits of the time that were on movie soundtracks "Only the Young", and "Ask the Lonely", and two songs that must have not made the cut originally. These extra songs and the nice concert photos and concert date listings make this a great package for a Journey fan but this album is still not what quite what I hoped for. Steve at its best Great Journey album, although I like the previous albums more, especially because of the overproduction of this one. But still a great album with some everlasting songs (RUBICON!)

Widely considered to be Journey's finest moment, 1981's ESCAPE virtually defined "arena rock," and became so popular that it even spawned its own Atari video game. Featuring the urgent anthem "Don't Stop Believin'" and the soaring ballad "Open Arms," the album showcases Neal Schon's dynamic guitar riffs, Jonathan Cain's bold keyboard lines, and, most importantly, singer Steve Perry's ...

1978's INFINITY was easily one of the most important albums in Journey's career up until that point. While it did spawn one sizeable hit, "Wheel in the Sky," more importantly INFINITY was singer Steve Perry's debut with the band. While touches of Journey's early fusion/progressive leanings ...

| | Judy Collins Folk Songs CD (2003)
Frontiers
$5.99 To the extent that Judy Collins' 23-year tenure at Elektra Records (1961-1984) could be summarized successfully on a ten-track budget compilation such as this, the selections would have to combine her relatively infrequent hit singles with album tracks that became a part of her permanent repertoire and were associated with her. Her Top Ten cover of Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now" (which helped make Mitchell a star) is an obvious inclusion, as is her Top 20 version of Stephen Sondheim's "Send in the Clowns" from the Broadway musical A Little Night Music (which made it the most popular composition of Sondheim's career and a Grammy Song of the Year). But equally necessary is Collins' cover of Leonard Cohen's "Suzanne," which appeared on her In My Life album in 1966, paving the way for Cohen's emergence as a singer/songwriter with Songs of Leonard Cohen a year later. Beyond such required choices, fans might quibble. If, for instance, there was room for only one of Collins' own compositions, why "Albatross" instead of, say, "My Father" or "Since You Asked"? And given the longevity of Collins' cover of Mitchell's "Chelsea Morning," didn't it deserve to make the cut? But there is one missing track that is more than a quibble. Collections like ...
| | Leon Russell Carney CD (1972) (Import) Japan
Frontiers
$40.75 Leon Russell's third album marked a change in direction. His first two releases were a sort of high-spirited revue, with numerous players and gospel-influenced backup singers. Where his self-titled debut and its follow-up (AND THE SHELTER PEOPLE) wedded blues, r&b, rock & roll, country and other genres, CARNEY is a pared-down setting of equally well-endowed songs that make their mark in a much quieter manner. Russell's first two albums had been veritable celebrations, but CARNEY sounds ...
