You Need Love songs
$12.79 JOHN "JUKE" LOGAN has, on multiple occasions over the past two decades, been the harmonica-player-of-choice for RY COODER, LOS LOBOS, ETTA JAMES, BO DIDDLEY, JOHN LEE HOOKER, LUCINDA WILLIAMS, DAVE ALVIN, LEON RUSSELL, films such as "CROSSROADS" (the Walter Hill feature about the blues) & "MIDNIGHT RUN", & TV shows such as "ROSEANNE" & "HOME IMPROVEMENT" & many others. LOGAN'S original compositions have been covered by many, recorded by the likes of JOHN MAYALL, The PALADINS & GARY PRIMICH, used by film & TV & honored with commentary like: "he's the Willie Dixon of the 90's & beyond... just listen to the lyrics" (-"Squrl", KMCQ Oregon). Juke's radio show (with co-host Ellen bloom), The FRIDAY NIGHT BLUES BEVUE, ran for 8 years on KPCC & was one of Southern California's most popular public radio roots-music programs. JUKE'S previous two albums, The CHILL (Razor & Tie, '92), & JUKE RHYTHM (Mocombo, '98) (both released in Europe on Virgin) were called "groove-filled blasts" (-Album Network),and were comprised entirely of his original songs, & prompted observations like, "Logan's pushing off in directions where few in blues have gone... makes the term 'multi-cultural', as it applies to blues, seem not only possible, but logical... the right kind of adventure for these dull times." (- BLUES REVUE) About his latest endeavor "THE TRUTH ...

You Need Love album
$15.39 This strikingly lovely album was originally recorded in 2003, when the great Brazilian singer Gal Costa was preparing for a gala outdoor concert that was expected to take place in Rio de Janeiro; unfortunately, the funding fell through and the concert never took place. What emerged from the ashes of that disappointment was this studio album, on which Costa looks back on the music of her childhood in the 1940s and '50s -- Brazilian music that predates the bossa nova era. These are songs written by artists who are legends in Brazil but are far less famous outside of their native land: Dorival Caymmi, Evaldo Gouveia, Dolores Duran, and others. Wisely, Costa and her arrangers refrained from trying to replicate the exact sounds of the older recordings, and instead have created modern but respectful new arrangements that prominently feature strings as well as electric instruments, accordion, and winds. Costa was approaching her seventh decade as she made these recordings, but she sings ...
| | Ceremony Still, Nothing Moves You CD (2008) Digipak
You Need Love CD music
$10.75 A band that lists Joy Division, Suicidal Tendencies, Pink Floyd, and Tom Waits as its chief influences is not something you come across very often. But there's a first for everything -- welcome to the wild and unpredictable world of Ceremony. On their 2008 release, Still, Nothing Moves You, the Bay Area-based group mixes all these aforementioned varied influences into a blender and comes up with a hard-hitting style that is quite comparable to the freakout cacophony of bands like the Dillinger Escape Plan. The whole album is one nonstop bludgeoning of sonic fury -- pick any selected cut ("He -- God ...

You Need Love music CDs
$11.79 Lyle, WA-dwelling ("on the grounds of a Columbia Gorge Winery")/Portland, OR-recording Dustin Hamman fortunately feels no such inhibitions about making whimsical music. Steeped in classic folk with occasional zippy hints of `30s jazz, and using a singing style filled with pints of enjoyably exaggerated syrup, Hamman sometimes sounds like Squirrel Nut Zippers or Violent Femmes backing Oingo Boingo's Danny Elfman -- or Ken Page as Oogie Boogie in Elfman's The Nightmare Before Christmas music. His uninhibited zest is matched by the joy in the arrangements (try "The Afterlife, Pt. 1"), with twinkling bells, flamenco trumpets, starlit ...
